The hype for Rise of Skywalker is showing up in a lot of places. People on Twitter are debating the latest trilogy’s merits. J.J. Abrams and cast are marketing the film in endless interviews. Now, the premier Star Wars multiplayer game, Battlefront 2, is getting new content for the film. Releasing Friday, the timing couldn’t be better for the latest Battlefront 2 Rise of Skywalker content trailer.

What We Learned from the Battlefront 2 Rise of Skywalker Content Trailer

In the Battlefront 2 Rise of Skywalker content trailer, we see a lot happening. First thing’s first, the trailer drops us right in the middle of a war zone. The First Order soldiers are seemingly sweeping the unidentified jungle planet with Stormtroopers, but the Resistance is well staffed as well. Not to mention, Resistance fighters have a ton of weaponry that, if possible to use in game, should be a ton of fun. We see a familiar face in Finn, and even see BB-8 rolling around in a panic. Then, as it looks like the Resistance will break into the First Order base, Kylo Ren shows up. As he force chokes the life out of Resistance fighters, we also see his Sith Troopers, donned in blood red armor.

As Ren starts to have his way with the weaker Resistance soldiers, he meets his match in Rey. The two begin to battle it out as we get a great glimpse at all there is to do in Star Wars Battlefront 2. From the original trilogy to the prequels, every age of the Skywalker Saga is playable in the game. For something that started off so sketchy, Battlefront 2 Rise of Skywalker content helps to really show how well rounded the game is in its content.

When is the New Content Releasing?

The content announcement preceded the trailer in the Star Wars Battlefront 2 Celebration Edition announcement. The new edition brings together all DLC for the game, including appearances, costumes, and more, for one single price. It’s great to finally see the Rise of Skywalker content in action, however, especially considering that it’s free.

Look, it’s great that the Fortnite Star Wars event is happening. Disney would be silly not to work with one of the biggest games online right now. That being said, Battlefront 2 is a great game. Starting off slowly with bad microtransactions, the team at DICE has made this an incredible multiplayer shooter. The new Rise of Skywalker content begins rolling out tomorrow, December 17th.
