Netflix has a pretty great catalog of original content. A lot of their stuff comes straight from the minds of talented writers. Others are adapted works of intriguing pre-existing content. Though Netflix released 2020’s I Am Not Okay with This, they still have a limited collection of comic book adaptations. Fortunately, that’s about to change! Netflix has recently signed a first-look deal with Boom Studios, an American comic book and graphic novel publisher.

Netflix and Boom Studios Now Have A First-Look Deal
The deal between Netflix and Boom Studios means that the streaming service will be able to adapt Boom comics and graphic novels into film and television. However, it’s important to note that Boom Studios already has a first-look deal with 20th Century Studios. Disney now owns 20th Century Studios after the 2019 acquisition of the company. However, this deal will only last until January of 2021.
Boom Studios is the publisher behind a variety of popular and unique titles including Something is Killing the Children, Mouse Guard, and Once & Future. The studio is also home to KaBoom! Studios, publishing series that are more kid-friendly and targeted towards younger readers. So, there’s a good chance that this partnership could mean plenty of new content for Netflix subscribers of all ages.
The first look deal between the streaming service and Boom Studios will last for two years. Ross Richie, the CEO of Boom Studios, as well as Stephen Christy, their president of development, will both serve as executive producers on any projects that are developed through Boom Studios for Netflix.
