Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 began filming in November 2021, and principal photography recently concluded, as evidenced by the below tweet from James Gunn, which is supported by a photo of him having fun with his brother Sean Gunn, Pom Klementieff, Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, and Dave Bautista. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for us in this movie and hopes it pushes the boundaries of the MCU. I just saw Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and absolutely loved it. And coming after No Way Home, it seems like the MCU is in good hands. Thor: Love and Thunder comes this year as well. After involving Adam Warlock in GOTG2, Gunn and Feige noted the character’s significance on the celestial side of the MCU.

They hinted that he would appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Following the official launch of Vol. 2, Gunn announced in May 2017 that the third installment would get made. He said it’d be done “over the next three years, and affirmed that Pom Klementieff would return as Mantis.  He also wanted Elizabeth Debicki to reprise her part as Ayesha. By mid-June, Gunn finished the first draft of his script treatment for the third film. He was thinking about modifying a piece of character information he’d positioned in the background of the first film’s mugshot series. This was to be when the Nova Corps captured the Guardians.

Previously, the movie was meant to come out on May 1, 2020. Gunn met with Mark Hamill regarding potentially making an appearance in the motion picture at the end of February 2018. Chris Pratt was set to play his part as Peter Quill / Star-Lord in April. Dave Bautista affirmed his role as Drax the Destroyer the following month. By the end of June, Marvel received Gunn’s finished first draft of the movie script, well prior to the start of official pre-production on the film.

Except for Pom Klementieff, each of the actors has been a part of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie franchise since its inception. With time, Mantis’ actress has become just as important to this corner of the MCU since her debut. Her introduction came in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, by the way. While some Guardians of the Galaxy group members may keep popping up in the MCU after Vol. 3, the forthcoming Marvel movie is Gunn’s final time working with these characters. This also means the end of filmmaking brings him one step near the end of his professional journey. This news comes just a few days ever since Karen Gillan, who plays Nebula, disclosed that she had finished filming her scenes.
