The COVID-19 pandemic left a lot of us looking for at-home hobbies. One such activity that grew in popularity was building models of pop culture characters, objects, and collectibles. The scene existed long before 2020 but now many have an interest in building things they can collect. It’s a great time to be a fan of this pastime because a major European-based model subscription service is finally coming to the United States. With licensing from Marvel Studios, Star Wars, Capcom, and more, the Fanhome model subscription service is a must-have for anyone interested in geek culture. Here’s how the service works and what you can start building.

Fanhome, a new subscription-based collections and models brand, today announces its entry into the United States, marking the first time its products have been made available to passionate fans outside of the European Union and the United Kingdom. A lot of geek culture and merch subscriptions already exist but Fanhome does things differently. Here’s how it works.

Each month, fans receive a standard shipment consisting of model parts from a popular franchise or fandom. The model’s parts arrive accompanied by a 16-page magazine full of rich history and interesting facts about the favorite franchise. You also receive detailed instructions to build their model. Assembly stages for each model vary from one year up to two years to completeThat last part is maybe a bit confusing so let’s break it down.

You won’t receive all parts at once. These are incredibly detailed models and will take a good bit of time to complete. Think of it this way: every month, you get a piece of the puzzle. When it’s completed, you get an incredible collectible that you literally built yourself. I think hobbyists are going to grab onto this Fanhome model subscription service right away. This is especially true when you look at the four models they’re kicking off the U.S. service with.

Four Incredible Models to Get Started

Four models kick off Fanhome’s service. Firstly, you can essentially be Tony Stark and build your own Mark III armor. The model is incredibly detailed, fully jointed, and complete with spectacular light effects. Star Wars fans can pick up a fully functioning half-scale model R2-D2. The model is based on the film prop, so once completed, fans can download an app to control and interact with R2-D2.

If you’re all about family, then this next model is surely for you. Fans can build a faithful replica 1:8 scale model of the Legendary Dodge Charger from the Fast & Furious Saga! It might not be street legal but it looks incredible and certainly appeals to the huge F&F fandom. Lastly, get to know 60 characters from the Street Fighter universe with rare models of the fighters. This includes a range of favorites from Ryu, Ken, and Chun Li to Guile, Vega, and Blanka.
