Dijkstra is the head of intelligence for the country of Redania, and is very influential in his homeland. Described as physically imposing – and exceptionally smart – he is the last person anyone would suspect is a spy. Dijkstra and Geralt of Rivia have a bit of an antagonistic relationship. So we can definitely count on seeing the two of them verbally spar in the show. Graham McTavish is perfect for the role, and we are excited to see him bring the iconic character to life.
McTavish joins the cast of The Witcher season 2 fresh off a second stint on Outlander. Where he formerly played clan warlord Dougal MacKenzie, and recently re-appeared as Dougal’s bastard son Buck Mackenzie. Most recently, McTavish appeared in the documentary series Men in Kilts on Starz. In that show, he travels around his homeland of Scotland with fellow Outlander star Sam Heughan. Graham McTavish is a genre legend, having appeared The Hobbit movies as the dwarf Dwalin. He has also appeared in other genre shows like Preacher, Lucifer, Colony, and lending his voice to projects like the Uncharted video game series.

Joining Graham McTavish are several new cast members for The Witcher. Most notable among these actors is Doctor Who alum Adjoa Andoh who was most recently seen in Bridgerton. Andoh will portray Nenneke, high priestess of the goddess Melitele. She is joined by fellow Bridgerton actor Chris Fulton who will play the wizard Rience, who is hunting the character of Ciri.
Another Outlander actor Simon Callow joins Graham McTavish for The Witcher season 2. Callow will play a character named Codringher. Alongside disability activist and actress Liz Carr’s gender-swapped Fenn, the two will team up as detectives who likely help Geralt solve a mystery.
Downtown Abbey actor Kevin Doyle will also appear in an original role created for the series as someone named Ba’lian. We don’t yet know who this character will be. But according to the unusual name, it seems possible that he will play a non-human character.
The Witcher season 2 is currently filming after several production shutdowns due to the pandemic, and injuries suffered by star Henry Cavill. No word yet on when the second season of The Witcher will come to Netflix. But we will be keeping an eye on this news as we learn more.
