We are mere hours away as of this writing from the season 2 premiere of The Mandalorian on Disney+. The first-ever live-action Star Wars TV series is critically acclaimed and a fan favorite. The inclusion of one of the cutest characters in Baby Yoda definitely helps the show reach that acclaim. The Western motif in the Star Wars universe is unique and very watchable. So now imagine how The Mandalorian would look in anime, and just how much more awesome that could be. Well, wonder no more, as the extremely talented YouTuber Malec brings The Mandalorian anime to life in a new video on his channel.

The recent video released by popular YouTuber Malec shows what The Mandalorian anime would look like. The anime short continues the tradition of reimagining other franchises set within an anime world, with its aesthetics and rules. It does this with a Cowboy Bebop style animation and opening credits. As a result, the sequence is immensely fun and enjoyable and further speaks to the universal awesomeness of the Disney+ series.

The video also has a pretty a catchy track blaring throughout, while introducing  the major characters of the show. The video reimagines everyone from Mando himself, to Cara Dune, Baby Yoda, IG-11, Kuiil, and Moff Gideon himself in anime format. There are also interesting additions or edits to the existing designs. For instance, IG-11 gets a hilarious maid/nanny outfit. While Cara Dune is seemingly sexualized, much to Mando’s chagrin. And Gideon is somehow more intimidating here too. The overall short is fun and interesting.

Reimagining Of Popular Franchise In Anime Is A Common Practice

While anime is actually a medium of storytelling, with many genres within itself, it’s most commonly associated with certain tropes. Action, sci-fi, adventure, and violent fantasy are usually the genres that come to mind for the casual anime audience. Now with that in mind, it seems The Mandalorian anime perfectly fits with its source material. Recently there have been many anime versions of popular franchises such as the episodes of Rick And Morty or Spongebob Squarepants. We even covered the other times Malec released anime versions of popular franchises like Game Of Thrones. Certainly, the results are pretty unique and pretty amazing. Not to mention a wonderful alternate universe where our favorite franchises are in anime.

The Mandalorian season 2 releases October 30 on Disney+.
