Naomie Harris and Jimmi Simpson Join The Cast Of The Man Who Fell To Earth Adaptation On Showtime
Some news this week brings us two new actors who join the cast of the upcoming adaptation of The Man Who Fell To Earth. Naomie Harris (Moonlight) and Jimmi Simpson (Westworld) will star opposite Chiwetel Ejiofor in the titular role. The series was previously slated to air on the Paramount+ streaming network, but it has now moved to Showtime.

The Man Who Fell To Earth Adds Two New Cast Members
The adaptation of The Man Who Fell To Earth will draw from the book written by Walter Tevis – who also wrote The Queen’s Gambit. It is not a reboot of the 1976 film starring David Bowie. Instead the series will draw from the original source material, and will likely be updated for present day. In the adaptation, Ejiofor will portray a new alien that lands on Earth at a turning point in human history. His actions will help determine the future of the human race.

According to Deadline, Harris will play a character named Justin Falls: “a brilliant scientist and engineer who must conquer her own demons in the race to save two worlds.”
Showrunners Alex Kurtzman, Jenny Lumet and John Hlavin say that “working with an actor of Naomie’s caliber is an absolute dream. Her strength, her complexity and her bold artistic choices are an inspiration. We couldn’t be more thrilled to have her on board.”
Jimmi Simpson is also onboard as CIA agent Spencer Clay. His “obsession with the alien’s true identity drives him to the edge of madness.” Simpson certainly has plenty of experience with complicated characters who are slowly losing it. He played a similar role as the young William in Westworld for four seasons.

No reason was given for the show’s move from Paramount+ to Showtime. Perhaps the script turned out to be racier than anticipated? In any case we will certainly be keeping a close on this adaptation. To stay up to date be sure to follow Comic Years on Facebook and Twitter today!
