The Crowded Room Tom Holland Talks About Sobriety And Mental Health

Tom Holland will star a new series for Apple TV+ called The Crowded Room. It is based on real-life events and is a thriller/horror production that chronicles the life of a young man with mental health issues. The show’s trailer was recently released, showing part of the story of the new work of the Spider-Man actor.

Another interesting fact is that The Crowded Room series made Holland reflect much on his mental health. In fact, he indicated that he felt a similarity between his character and himself. This led him to make changes in his life and seek to change certain aspects that hurt him.

The Crowded Room’s With Tom Holland New Trailer has Been Released

One of the series that is about to premiere on Apple TV is The Crowded Room, starring Tom Holland. In the first trailer, we can see part of the life of Danny Sullivan, a young man suspected of several murders with mental problems and a dual personality.

The plot shows an investigation of a series of murders, and the main suspect is a young teenager. In the scenes, we can see how he has a gun related to the murders. Likewise, they detail a notebook of the young man with drawings of each victim.

In the middle of investigating the murders, they discover a series of irregular events in the boy’s environment. The plot of The Crowded Room will show how the police investigate Tom Holland’s character. In addition, a psychologist, played by Amanda Seinfeld, discovers that he has a split personality, one named Danny and another named Billy. In the sessions, the doctor listens to the young man’s story, from the time his classmates abused him until a somewhat strange family took him in.

There, the mental health expert asks him about the events that occurred in the house and in a particular room. They show several facts about this, as the woman in the house is having relations with another woman, one of the victims. We also see how the person who saved him is assaulting and hanging him. 

The Crowded Room, starring Tom Holland, will be released on Apple TV+ on June 9, 2023. The platform will offer 3 episodes of this first season in the premiere.  

Tom Holland’s Impressions of the Series and his Mental Health

Tom Holland’s portrayal of Danny Sullivan in The Crowded Room series led him to a personal self-analysis. The young actor discovered that there were some aspects of his mental health that he should heal. He even mentioned that it led him to change his personal life and mentioned several of his results, such as not stressing on social media and being sober for 1 year and 4 months. On this, the actor commented:

“Learning about mental health and the power of it, and speaking to psychiatrists about Danny and Billy’s struggles, has been something that has been so informative to my own life.”

In fact, in 2022, Holland posted that he would stay away from social media for a while, noting that it triggers anxiety and stress towards himself. He likewise said that there should be no stigma for people who need and ask for help to heal. On this point, he said:

“There is an awful stigma against mental health and I know that asking for help and seeking help isn’t something we should be ashamed of.”

Another interesting fact commented on by Tom Holland is the closeness he had with his character in The Crowded Room. He said that when he saw himself so identified in some aspects with this one, he decided to cut his hair immediately because he felt overwhelmed by that feeling. About this, he added:

“I was seeing myself in him, but in my personal life, I remember having a bit of a meltdown at home and thinking, like, ‘I’m going to shave my head. I need to shave my head because I need to get rid of this character.”
