There are only a few shows that manage to stick out in this crowd of clones and copies. To stand out, the show must have something that separates it from the others. Superheroes have gone mainstream and no one was able to stop worshiping them until a while ago. At least not until Amazon Prime’s The Boys came along.  Fans have been desperate for a season 3 of The Boys and finally, we have The Boys Season 3 release date with us!

The latest trailer of The Boys Season 3 gives a glimpse into what’s next. And trust us, what’s next is darn good. Just as good as the previous seasons of the gritty superhero parody. We’ll be quickly going through the brief history of Soldier Boy and Payback so that you know what they’re all about. We’ll also cover the other minor supes who made an appearance in the trailer since we’re big, big nerds.

So without any more delay, let’s jump right into The Boys Season 3’s latest trailer.

Who Is Soldier Boy?

If you look at a picture of Soldier Boy and read a little bit about his abilities, it’ll be easy to point out who he’s based on. Soldier Boy has superhuman strength, and superhuman speed, and…. he’s skilled at using his shield. Captain America vibes, anyone?

So, yes, he’s just a Captain America parody, but without the virtues. He isn’t loyal or courageous like Cap, and you can’t expect something like morals from a Vaught supe (at least, most of them). The good news is that Jensen Ackles will be playing Soldier Boy. Ackles has delivered some great performances before and we expect a lot from him. There have been many iterations of Soldier Boy and we aren’t sure which one will be included in the show. Judging from the trailer, Soldier Boy seems to be one of the more powerful characters and we hope that he plays a major role in The Boys’ Season 3.

Soldier Boy used to be a part of a team that came before The Seven. That team which has also been called The Seven Before The Seven is none other than the title of the 1st episode of season 3 of The Boys – PaybackPayback was led by Soldier Boy and its members were based on none other than earth’s mightiest heroes, The Avengers themselves.

New Supes Appearing in The Boys Season 3

The most amusing one – Tek Knight, is a parody of Iron Man and Batman both. He’s a wealthy man with no powers, but a neat suit of armor. Also, Tek Knight operates from a cave, used to have a sidekick, and has a butler to help him out as well.

Eagle the Archer has already been seen before in the series and he’s a parody of Hawkeye. There’s not much to say about him, except that he might be out for Payback? We’ll also be seeing a parody of Ant-Man/ Wasp called Swatto. Swatto can change his size, buzz around people, and can’t speak like a normal person.

Only Mind-Droid can understand what Swatto says because he possesses telepathy. The Vision-Esque Mind-Droid is also romantically involved with Scarlet Witch. Did we say Scarlet Witch? Sorry, we meant Crimson Countess! How could anyone get confused between these two completely different and unrelated names? Right?

Right now, it can’t be said which of these supes will make an appearance in the series with certainty. The trailer did show us a little snippet of the Crimson Countess and (maybe! maybe!) an even shorter one of Swatto. The show has a reputation for deviating from comic books, but that’s okay because the show has been very interesting so far. This does mean that some of the members of Payback might be omitted or changed.

The Boys Season 3 Release Date

Finally, for those of you waiting for the release date of The Boys Season 3, we have great news. Season 3 will air on June 3 which is very poetic on part of the people who decided the launch date. Give them a raise! It’s only a few days to release but for those of you who can’t wait, the animated series or a rewatch doesn’t sound like a bad idea. It’s a complex story after all, and watching it again will keep you occupied so that you don’t go nuts (speaking from personal experience, of course).
