The Shadow and Bone Trailer Gives Us A New Fantasy World
A synopsis from Netflix tells us the following about Shadow and Bone.
In Shadow and Bone, in a world cleaved in two by a massive barrier of perpetual darkness, where unnatural creatures feast on human flesh, a young soldier uncovers a power that might finally unite her country. But as she struggles to hone her power, dangerous forces plot against her. Thugs, thieves, assassins and saints are at war now, and it will take more than magic to survive.
The trailer for Shadow and Bone shows off the magical barrier known as the Dark Fold, along with the inciting incident that starts the story. Newcomer Jesse Mei Li will play the main character of Alina, who discovers magical abilities that will transform the world around her. Ben Barnes (Westworld, The Punisher) will play the character of the Darkling, a powerful ancient being that takes Alina under his wing.

Shadow and Bone is one of many book adaptations that Netflix has picked up in recent years. Alongside shows like The Witcher, this is a series that could make Netflix a serious contender in the fantasy genre. And we are pleasantly surprised to see how good this show looks. The CGI is excellent, the acting seems strong (at least from the trailer), the world looks immersive and realistic. And the complex relationships between the characters make this series far more than your typical YA fantasy fare.
