Many fans have enjoyed the CW series Riverdale. They received good news with the announcement of season 7 for the beginning of 2023. Now, they got confirmation that the seventh season will be the show’s last.

CW CEO Mark Pedowitz announced it in an executive call. He stated, “I am a big believer in attempting to give series that have had long runs an appropriate sendoff.” Pedowitz continued, “We had a long conversation with Roberto yesterday, who is thrilled by this news, and we will treat the show in the manner it deserves…. We want to make sure it goes out the right way.” Finally, he added, “I think they, too, felt that seven years is the right amount. As a fan myself, I do want to do what is right for the show.”

The series that began in 2017 will end soon in its seventh season. Both fans and the show’s actors were eager to have more of the series. Lili Reinhart is one of the examples stating, “We are looking forward to the seventh season. “

Seventh and Final Season of Riverdale

The series based on Archie comics, which started in 2017, will end soon. Its seventh season will premiere at the beginning of 2023 and finish the same year. This season will conclude this series that impacted so many.

In this series, we see Archie’s comic book characters living their lives in Riverdale. However, we detail how they suffer from the corruption that inhabits this city, greed, and lies. Each character is forced to fight their own demons and overcome obstacles that the city itself imposes on them.

Despite being based on children’s comics, Riverdale has an adult plot. The show involves witchcraft and even the development of superpowers. It is about everyday life in a city that gradually shows its darker side.

The series starred KJ Apa playing Archie Andrews, Lili Reinhart playing Betty Cooper, Camila Mendes playing Veronica Lodge, and Cole Sprouse playing Jughead Jones.

Among the supporting characters were a first-rate cast, including Mädchen Amick as Betty’s mother, Alice Smith; Casey Cott playing Kevin Keller, Marisol Nichols playing Veronica’s mother, Hermione Lodge; Madelaine Petsch as Cheryl Blossom, Mark Consuelos playing Hiram Lodge, and the late Luke Perry as Fred, Archie’s father.

More CW Shows Cancelled

Besides Riverdale being canceled after season 7, the CW announced other shows to end. One of the series to end is Legacies; another announced series that will conclude is DynastyBatwoman and Legends of Tomorrow will also finalize. Some shows will make it to see another day, such as The Flash and Walker.

The CW has always preferred preserving its shows to canceling them. However, the network is canceling show after show, and according to rumors, the reason would be the network’s possible sale.

The merger between Warner Brothers and Discovery Channel caused the channel’s board of directors to change, resulting in drastic shifts in the channel’s programming and this wave of cancellations.

Fans are lamenting the various shows that the CW is ending. Many Riverdale fans have commented on their social media, declaring their regret for what is happening.
