Philippa Eilhart In Witcher Season 2: Actress Cast

Production on season 2 of The Witcher has been slow but steady. Although they’ve had to shut down a few times, due to COVID outbreaks and Henry Cavill injuries, they’re still going. And while it’s been a minute since we’ve had some Witcher season 2 cast news, sit down, love. We’ve got some more. Philippa Eilhart is due on The Witcher.

Philippa Eilhart Joining Witcher Season 2

Actress and dancer Cassie Clare is joining the cast to play the sorceress Philippa Eilhart, according to the site Redanian Intelligence. The London-born actress got her start with the National Youth Theatre. Consequently, she’s appeared in many musicals and plays since then, including the Soho Theatre production of 20 Cigarettes.

However, Clare has also begun to establish herself as a TV and film actress. While most of her roles have been one-offs so far, she’s had a few recurring roles. These include the role of Hye Me on the Channel 4/Hulu co-production The Bisexual with Desiree Akhavan. She also had a recurring role as Rhiannon on the Iain Glen-starrer Delicious on Sky 1. (It’s now available on Acorn TV, by the way.) Her most recent role, besides in a Tremors sequel that I have to see immediately–it’s called SHRIEKER ISLAND, like, come ON–is an appearance on Peacock’s short-lived Brave New World series. Did you watch that? Was it good?

So Who Is This Character?

First of all, please bear with me. I have only watched the TV show. I don’t know anything about the books, video games, or assorted other parts of the canon. So if I get something terribly wrong, let’s just take it easy, alright? Alright.

Okay, so Philippa Eilhart is a sorceress. But not just a sorceress–she’s one of the most powerful in the world of the Witcher. That’s not surprising, though, when you find out that she’s like, 300 years old. To put that in perspective, Yennefer, the love of my life, is in her 70s on the show.

Anyway, one of the most noteworthy things about Philippa is that she’s what they call a polymorph. I’m not quite sure, but as far as I can tell, that means that she can shape-shift. Her particular shift of choice is an owl, fyi.

As for particular plot points–battles, etc.–I’m going to steer clear of those. Not only because I’m already in way over my head, but also because the show might change those details to fit their storyline. On that note, major outlets haven’t confirmed this news, so it’s all speculative at this point.

But if it is real, what do you think about the new Philippa Eilhart? Tell us on our social media or in these comments.
