Outlander Drops New Teaser For Season 6 – Set To Air On Starz In 2022
Droughtlander is almost over for fans of the time-traveling romance/period piece. This week Starz released a new teaser for season 6 of Outlander. They also confirmed that the show would be returning in “early 2022,” although no exact release date has been set.
The Revolutionary War Is Almost (Finally) Here
It is a tense time to be settling in North Carolina, as Jamie and Claire have done. The Revolutionary War is right around the corner, and the series has been building up to it for a long time. In the teaser for season 6 of Outlander, we get little dialogue other than an ominous warning from time-traveler Claire. “It’s starting,” she says with an extremely worried expression on her face. “The storm, the war… It’s almost here.”

Jamie and Claire navigate a tricky space in history. Jamie was a notorious Jacobite back in Scotland who fought at Culloden for Scottish independence. However, he has been forced to make deals with the British many times over the course of the series. The land that he and Claire own in North Carolina – Fraser’s Ridge – was granted to them by the crown. England demands the loyalty of the Frasers in exchange for the land. However, both Jamie and Claire know that the Revolutionary War is on the horizon. And they are determined to be on the right side of history. As such, they must navigate a careful balance between appeasing the British and assisting the new American rebels. And in season 6, that will become much harder to do as tensions rise and war seems imminent.
How Many Outlander Books Are There Left To Adapt?
Season 6 of Outlander will cover the storylines from the book A Breath of Snow And Ashes by Diana Gabaldon. Elements of this book were actually included in season 5 of Outlander. Including some of the most traumatic storylines that scarred everyone (fans and characters alike). Fortunately this means that some storylines from the excellent seventh book – An Echo In The Bone – may also be introduced in season 6. Although it does look like season 6 will cover a storyline I very much wanted to be cut, hopefully it won’t take up too much of the next season’s focus.

Outlander has already been renewed for season 7 – ahead of beginning production on the sixth season. That season should continue on the events of the seventh book, while leading into book 8 – Written In My Own Heart’s Blood. This was the last book in the series that was published. But never fear, a ninth Outlander book is due out next month. Go Tell The Bees That I Am Gone will be out on November 23, 2021. Diana Gabaldon has 10 books planned for the series, so hopefully the show will not outpace the books entirely.
Season 6 of Outlander is set to air on Starz in “early 2022” although the lack of an official release date is puzzling. We will certainly be keeping an eye out for more information as we get closer to the end of the year. To stay up to date, be sure to follow Comic Years on Facebook and Twitter today.
