Louder And Prouder Guest Cast To Include Lizzo, Lil Nas X, And Tiffany Haddish
I’m already excited that The Proud Family is getting a reboot (aptly titled Louder and Prouder) and the original voice actors are coming back. Plus there’s going to be some major LGBTQ representation: Pittsburgh natives Zachary Quinto (Heroes, Star Trek) and Billy Porter (Pose, Kinky Boots) are joining the Proud family cast as Barry Leibowitz-Jenkins and Randall Leibowitz-Jenkins, mixed-race adoptive parents to 14-year-old activist Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, who will be voiced by Keke Palmer. Can things get any better? They can! Disney+ just announced an A-list Louder and Prouder guest cast and recurring characters for the show’s 20th anniversary and it is UH.MAZE.ING.

The guest cast will feature talent from the music, film, TV, and sports worlds. Some of the biggest names include Lizzo, Lil Nas X, Chance the Rapper, Normani, Leslie Odom Jr. (Hamilton), Tiffany Haddish (Bad Trip), Lena Waithe (The Chi), Anthony Anderson (Blackish), Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane), Debbie Allen (Fame), James Pickens Jr. (Grey’s Anatomy), Courtney B. Vance (Lovecraft Country), Jane Lynch (Glee), Marsai Martin (Blackish), Jaden Smith (Life in a Year), Glynn Turman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), Lamorne Morris (New Girl), Brenda Song (The Suite Life of Zack and Cody), Tina Knowles (mom-ager to Beyonce), Eva Longoria (Jane the Virgin), Holly Robinson Peete (Meet the Peetes), Al Roker (NBC’s Today Show), Bretman Rock (beauty and social media influencer), Gabby Douglas (American Olympic gymnast), Laurie Hernandez (American Olympic gymnast), and Dominique Dawes (American Olympic gymnast). Even with this stacked guest cast, there’s still going to be several other famous voices.
New recurring character voice talent include Asante Blackk (This Is Us) as Penny’s boyfriend, Kareem; rapper Artist “A Boogie” Dubose as Maya’s gamer brother, Francis “KG” Leibowitz-Jenkins; Raquel Lee Bolleau (Real Husbands of Hollywood), who will once again voice Nubia Gross; and Marcus T. Paulk (Red Tails), who’s reprising his role as Penny’s classmate, Myron.
It seems like Louder and Prouder will continue to follow Penny Proud and the hijinx that her family and friends often get themselves into. The entire original voice cast will be back for Louder and Prouder, including Kyla Pratt (Penny Proud), Tommy Davidson (Oscar Proud), Paula Jai Parker (Trudy Proud), Jo Marie Payton (Suga Mama), Carlos Mencia (Felix Boulevardez), Maria Canals-Barrera (Sunset Boulevardez), Alvaro Gutierrez (Papi), and Cedric the Entertainer (Uncle Bobby Proud).
Disney created a 20th anniversary featurette for Louder and Prouder, which you can watch below:
