The new trailer for Loki season 2 trailer shown at Disney’s D23 event is full of references to other characters from the MCU.

Disney’s D3 brought good news regarding the series and movies we will enjoy from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Fans received updates for Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantumania, Ironheart, Fantastic 4, Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever, Echo, Daredevil: Born Again, Werewolf by Night, and Loki season 2.

A new trailer for the second season of Loki showed Tom Hiddleston’s presence with the rest of the protagonists. The trailer shows a glimpse of what we will see in the next season, with another mention of Kang: the Conqueror and mentions of old Marvel characters.

Loki Season 2 Trailer Reveals an Alternative Fate

In the new trailer for Loki season 2, we see the Norse god of deception again talking with Mobius in a coffee shop. This time, however, we don’t see the end of the world as in the first season. Instead, there is a conversation between the two characters.

They mention the fate of the world according to Loki’s perception. We should note that this version of Loki is not the same one that fought with Thanos and reconciled with Thor. This Loki is the variant who escaped from the Avengers when the more adult versions traveled in time, looking for the infinity gems.

Another fact to contextualize is that reality has undergone significant changes as the first season progressed. When He Who Remains died, the timelines fractured, causing realities to change. So much so that Mobius and Loki met on one occasion, and the former did not recognize the god of deception.

All these facts led to the conversation in the trailer, where Mobius asks Loki about who the bad guys were while having lunch. Loki would then reply, “Iron Man. Captain America. Black Widow. Hawkeye. Phil Coulson. Thanos. Nick Fury. My father. My brother. Miss Minutes. You.”

Loki also explains to Mobius that the end of the world is near and that a rather dangerous entity is approaching. In this part, Loki declares that the end seems inevitable and that a brutal war is coming. Mobius asks Loki if he is not exaggerating the situation too much, to which the Norse god tells him that he isn’t.

All the References in the Trailer

From the looks of the trailer, the second season, which will start in 2023, will be a bit more familiar. It will not start directly with action but with Loki taking it easy, seeing the future of the world and the multiverse. The latter will become more relevant in this part of the series.

As we could denote in this conversation, old characters were named, among them The Avengers, who fought against Loki in New York, as well as the various S.H.I.E.L.D. agents, as is the case of Nick Fury and Phil Coulson. He names them as part of the evil ones for opposing him in his attack on the city.

He also names characters like Odin, Thanos, and Mobius, who do not let him do what he wants. However, the exciting part of the conversation is not the past characters but the future ones we will have in Marvel. That is the case of Kang, the Conqueror. Already the character would have appeared a few times in the first season. Loki knows this character will bring the war to that and other dimensions.

A direct fight with this character is unlikely, considering it will take place at the end of Marvel’s Phase VI. However, Kang will likely appear post-Loki, since Loki is the cause of his appearance in the first place. Kang would tell Loki, “he went to a primitive time, just to eliminate him,” due to changes that the god of deception would have brought about.

With Marvel’s announcements, we also know that we will see Kang in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania. However, we do not know what will be the relationship between this world conqueror and the superheroes. We will have to wait for this movie and the new Loki series broadcast to learn more about the new villain.
