Jodie Turner-Smith Will No Longer Star In Witcher: Blood Origin Cast Due To Scheduling Conflicts
With news that season 2 of The Witcher recently completed filming, we were expecting to see a deluge of Witcher related content before the end of the year. Now it looks like we might have to wait a bit longer for the live-action prequel series Witcher: Blood Origin. Actress Jodie Turner-Smith has left the cast of Witcher: Blood Origin due to scheduling conflicts. Turner-Smith was originally slated to play the main role of Éile, the warrior turned traveling bard. There is no word yet on who will replace Jodie Turner-Smith in the role.

“Due to a change in the production schedule for The Witcher: Blood Origin limited series, unfortunately Jodie Turner-Smith will no longer be able to continue on in the role of Éile,” a Netflix spokesperson said.
Witcher: Blood Origin is a live-action limited series. It takes place approximately 1,200 years before the events of the Witcher series on Netflix. The lands of the Witcher will look very different in the prequel. This is a time when the world was primarily ruled over by elves. The prequel series will lead up to the dramatic “Conjunction of the Spheres” when the veil between worlds broke open. This was when both humans and monsters (what’s the difference am I right?) spilled over into the world. This is of course what leads to the order of the Witchers being created, to fight the monsters.

Whoever ends up playing the role of Éile will have to play double duty as a powerful warrior, and a musician. She will need to have a powerful singing voice, one that lives up to the ‘goddess’ descriptor.
