Jensen Ackles Buffs Up In Superhero Training Video
Psst…you might be surprised to hear this, but superheroes need to work out too (Thor Love and Thunder is done filming and Chris Hemsworth’s arms?! Definitely due to time at the gym). In an Instagram video, Jensen Ackles buffs up in a superhero training session, showing us just how much work he’s putting in to play Soldier Boy on Season 3 of The Boys. “Okay (Arrow star Stephen Amell), (The Flash star Grant Gustin), and all you other Supes out there…I’m beginning to understand the struggle. Or maybe I’m just too old for this crap,” Jensen says in the caption. Then he quips on the video, “This was so much easier when all I had to do was wear flannel,” referring to his 15 years as Dean Winchester on Supernatural.

Ackles is set to play “Vought’s first superhero,” a parody of Marvel’s Captain America, and it’s paying off for showrunner Eric Kripke, who also created Supernatural. Fans of the CW show are likely to follow Ackles on to this next project as a supe, and Kripke has played up the drama that is yet to come in an interview with Variety:
He’s one of these guys that’s been around for decades of Vought history. And he was Homelander before Homelander, so he’s from a different era, but he’s got the ego and the ambition – it just comes across in a different way because he’s from a different time.
There’s no premiere date for Season 3 yet, but cast members have revealed that the new season is halfway through completion. Even more exciting is that Ackles tweeted a few days ago that photos of him in the Soldier Boy outfit were “coming soon,” but when that is exactly…we’ll just have to wait and see.
