GOT Alum Indira Varma Joins The Cast Of The Obi-Wan Kenobi Show On Disney+
Actress Indira Varma is joining the cast of the upcoming Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi. A genre veteran, Varma is probably best known for her role as Ellaria Sand in Game of Thrones. In that show she had a romantic relationship with another actor in the Star Wars universe – Pedro Pascal. Of course we can’t wait to see if Varma’s Star Wars character will meet up with Mando at some point. Because we love our genre shows to get super meta.

The Obi-Wan Kenobi show stars Ewan McGregor, who is returning to the role as the Jedi Master after many years. Hayden Christensen is also onboard to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Obi-Wan Kenobi will take place in the Star Wars timeline approximately 10 years after Revenge of the Sith. This means that there are plenty of characters from other Star Wars shows such as The Clone Wars who could also appear in the series.
Will Indira Varma be playing a character we already know from Clone Wars? Or will she be an entirely new character? The secrecy of her character details may point towards the first option, so let’s take a look at who Indira Varma could be portraying.
Who Will Varma Play In The Obi-Wan Kenobi Show?

The most popular fan theory about who Indira Varma could play in Obi-Wan Kenobi ties into both The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian. Rumors abound that Varma may be playing the role of Satine Kryze. Satine was the sister of Bo Katan (Katee Sackhoff) – who appeared in the most recent season of The Mandalorian. Satine was duchess and leader of Mandalore during the time period seen in The Clone Wars.
The reason that fans support this theory is because Satine and Obi-Wan once had a deep relationship that verged on a forbidden romance. They were so close that Obi-Wan told her that he would have left the Jedi Order to be with her. That’s something that would have a major impact on the character, and would definitely still haunt him years later. Unfortunately the character of Satine is dead by the time the Obi-Wan Kenobi show is set to take place. So, if this speculation is true, then that would mean Varma would likely only appear in flashbacks. Although we cannot discount the possibility of visions, or even a Force ghost. But then again, it also wouldn’t be the first time that Star Wars has brought a character back to life. (Maybe there is a clone of her floating around?)
We Don’t Really Know Who Indira Varma Will Play In The Obi-Wan Kenobi Show, But Boy Are We Excited
Of course, Varma doesn’t fit the physical appearance of Satine that The Clone Wars previously established. We know from the live-action versions of Bo Katan and Ahsoka Tano that Disney and Lucasfilm are hewing closely to those original character designs. So this theory might just be wishful thinking on the part of Star Wars fans.
If Varma is playing a newly created character in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show on Disney+ then the possibilities are really endless. Maybe she’ll be a smuggler that he meets on Tatooine. Or she could be working for Vader and acting as a nemesis for Obi-Wan. She could be human, but she could also easily be an alien in the Star Wars universe. We really don’t know.
