Fall Of The House Of Usher Cast Announced

As Meghan previously told you, we are expecting an adaptation of The Fall of the House of Usher from Netflix. Sometimes, though, we get announcements like that and nothing happens. Scheduling trips people up, budgets disappear, and projects fall apart. However, that fortunately doesn’t seem to be the case here. This adaptation is well on its way to becoming a reality, as we now have a(n expanding) cast for The Fall of the House of Usher.

Fall of the House of Usher Includes Big Names and Flanagan Mainstays

As this is a Mike Flanagan joint, we can expect to see some familiar faces, as we have with his previous projects. To that end, Flanagan veteran Carla Gugino will appear in the Edgar Allan Poe adaptation in an as yet unknown role. But Gugino isn’t the only returning player. Rahul Kohli, Henry Thomas, Samantha Sloyan, Annabeth Gish, T’nia Miller, Katie Parker, Michael Trucco, Crystal Balint, Kyliegh Curran, Matt Biedel, Zach Gilford, and Robert Longstreet, all Flanagan alumni, will also all be on the show. In addition, Ruth Codd, Aya Furukawa, and Sauriyan Sapkota, who will be on Flanagan’s upcoming Midnight Club series, have joined the cast. And of course, Kate Siegel will be there.

Flanagan newcomers include Paola Nuñez (The Purge TV show) and Daniel Jun (The Expanse). Their roles are unclear at this point, but we do have some news about some pretty big names. For instance, Frank Langella will be playing Roderick Usher, the Usher family’s current patriarch. Mary McDonnell, meanwhile, has joined the cast as Madeline, Roderick’s twin.

Outside of the Usher family, Carl Lumbly (Doctor Sleep) will be taking on the role of C. Auguste Dupin, Poe’s famous detective. You might remember the character from stories like “The Murders in the Rue Morgue” or “The Purloined Letter.” The character doesn’t actually appear in “Usher,” so it’ll be interesting to see how it all plays out with him.

Finally, like Gugino, Mark Hamill will also be playing an unknown role. According to the press release, though, it’s “a character surprisingly at home in the shadows.” Neat!

Midnight Club Next on the Docket

We don’t know at this point when the Fall of the House of Usher cast will begin production on the show. The next Flanagan work we can expect to see is Midnight Club. This series will follow a group of terminally ill teens. Living in a hospice together, they tell spooky stories. It will be based on the Christopher Pike book of the same name. However, like the recent Fear Street films (based on R.L. Stine’s work), it will also draw inspiration from Pike’s entire oeuvre.

Midnight Club will premiere on Netflix in 2022. You can set a reminder now.
