From Marvel to DC, from heroes to antiheroes, today we bring you the eight most anticipated superhero movies in 2023. Superhero releases have been quite successful in recent years. Iron Man, Captain America, The Avengers, Spider-Man, Batman, Superman and the Justice League are just a few names on the list. The successes continue to give the green light for new sequels, prequels, and spin-offs related to the superhero world.

Their success has been so great that they are already making new films and TV shows, especially in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Even though some movies and actors have suffered setbacks, the public still waits for some of these products to release and has high expectations.

Upcoming Superhero Movies In 2023

The Marvels (Marvel)

A movie that brings together a team of powerful heroines to fight against supervillains and save the world. In The Marvels, we will see Captain Marvel or Carol Danvers represented by Brie Larson as the main character. We will also have her ward Kamala Khan or Miss Marvel, played by Iman Vellani. Finally, the film includes Teyona Parris playing the role of Monica Rambeau, who we saw in WandaVision. This movie’s premiere will be February 13, 2023, as part of Marvel’s Phase 5.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (DC Movies)

In Aquaman’s sequel,  a mysterious force threatens the existence of the oceans and the entire world. This time we will see Arthur use his new trident and his king suit again to eliminate the threat. The synopsis specifies that the main character will make alliances with characters that discomfort him, such as his brother Orm or Black Manta.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has had delays and great hype because of the Amber Heard-Johnny Depp trial. Nevertheless, it is scheduled for release on March 17, 2023. The cast of this production includes Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul Mateen II, Randall Park, Randall Park, Nicole Kidman and Patrick Wilson.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Vol. 3 (Marvel)

Another of the most anticipated superhero movies in 2023 is Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3. In the last movie of this saga, we will have again the team fighting for the galaxy after Thor left them. We will see Gamora in it, although it will be the version from the past that arrived alongside Thanos in Avengers Endgame.

We will see the entire team fight a formidable foe that will most likely be Adam Warlock. If we remember the post-credit scene of the second movie, the queen of The Sovereigns is in a pod, creating Adam and swearing revenge against the superheroes.

The film opens on May 5, 2023, and will star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillian, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff and the addition to Will Poulter as Adam Warlock.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-verse (Sony Pictures)

The film will release on June 16, 2023, featuring Phil Lord’s and Christopher Miller’s voices.

Following the success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, productions of this franchise’s villains continue. Venom and Morbius were first; next on the list will be Kraven the Hunter, known for being the best hunter in the world. We will likely see an origin story, as in Morbius and Venom. It might even include another post-credit scene with The Vulture, who seems to be putting together a team to fight Spider-Man.

The film will feature Aaron Taylor Johnson as Kraven and appearances by Russell Crowe and Ariana DeBose. Kraven the Hunter arrives in theaters on January 13, 2023.

Madame Web (Sony Pictures)

Continuing with the Arachnid universe, we have Madame Web. In the comic and the animated series, she was an older woman able to travel between the different arachnid dimensions with psychic powers. The film could also tell her story of being born blind with a neurological disease and developing psychic abilities.

The movie is being produced by Sony and will hit the big screen on July 7, 2023. The film will star Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney.

Deadpool 3 (Marvel)

Deadpool the Video Game

One of the latest additions to the Marvel Universe was the character Deadpool. With this comes another of the most anticipated superhero movies in 2023, Deadpool 3. He will continue to make fun of the X-Men while he’s introduced to the MCU. The film continues to star Ryan Reynolds and has Shawn Levy as director. Its release has not been announced, as some production details are planned.

You may think this list is missing The Flash, which is scheduled to premiere on June 23, 2023. However, because of the controversies around actor Ezra Miller, Warner has not yet decided what to do about it.
