The day has finally come – it’s time for Star Wars Celebration 2022! It’s been over two years since the last official celebration because of the pandemic. So, it feels like we’re long overdue a celebration of a galaxy far, far away! We can expect to hear about plenty of things at this event. Here’s a round-up of some speculation and rumours about the event.

Where and when can I watch it?

The official Star Wars Celebration is in California at the Anaheim Convention Center. Lucasfilm will run the event from Thursday, May 26th, until May 29th. You can still pick up some last-minute tickets if you’re in the area.

But, if you’re unable to attend the event, you can watch the live stream. Just check out the official Star Wars YouTube channel to watch along. However, they will only be live-streaming a few of the most important panels, so don’t expect to see everything there.

Star Wars Celebration – Thursday’s Events

To kickstart Star Wars Celebration, Lucasfilm is holding a showcase event. This will include visits from “special guests” and select members of the film-making crew. As well as this, they’ll also preview some of the written work for this year.

We can expect to see lots some previews of the upcoming TV shows here. This will likely include The Mandalorian season 3, a sneak peek of the Andor TV show and some more information about the Obi-Wan Kenobi show. Don’t forget to watch Kenobi when it drops today!

For the publishing side of things, there’ll be some more information about the “High Republic” series at Star Wars Celebration 2022. Since we’re entering the third wave of The High Republic Phase 1, we’ll likely see some things about Phase 2. Perhaps we’ll find out what the “Quest of the Jedi” is.

If that wasn’t enough, Ian McDiarmid has an exclusive panel on this day. He’ll be talking more about what it’s been like playing the terrifying Emperor Palpatine across all the Star Wars trilogies. Previously, he hinted at appearing in one of the upcoming TV shows. So, he might give us some more information at this panel!

Star Wars Celebration – Friday’s Events

For the next day of Star Wars Celebration 2022, fans will get to see an exclusive preview of “Light & Magic.” This is a documentary series looking at the visual effects work that goes into making parts of the Star Wars franchise. Special guests from behind-the-scenes at Lucasfilm will be here to answer questions.

After this, it’s time to turn the clock back – 20 years, to be exact! 2022 marks exactly two decades since Lucasfilm released Attack of the Clones. So, we can expect to hear some juicy details about how the film came to fruition and some interesting behind-the-scenes details. You can expect to see some tie-in merch reveals here as well.

Next, fans will see Star Wars worldwide at Star Wars Celebration 2022. They’ll learn about how different Disney Parks celebrate this event internationally, such as with new experiences. We’ll probably hear more about future updates to Galaxy’s Edge and the Galactic Starcruiser immersive experience.

Saturday’s Events

Star Wars Celebration gets even more exciting on Saturday! To start with, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will preview the next season of The Mandalorian. It’ll mark their first appearance at the event since the show was released back in 2019. As such, we can expect to hear lots of things about the escapes of Grogu and the titular character for the next season.

Additionally, Doug Chiang will be discussing the design aspects of The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. He’ll talk about the work that goes into the visual aspects of designing different aspects of both shows. As such, you can expect lots of behind-the-scenes and unseen visuals here.

Lucasfilm will preview their latest animated series to end the penultimate day of Star Wars Celebration. This is called Tales of the Jedi, and we don’t know much about it yet. So, we’ll probably find out more, including which characters will be involved. As it’s an anthology series, we’ll probably see a lot of iconic characters.

Sunday’s Events

Closing off Star Wars Celebration 2022, the cast and crew of The Bad Batch will talk about their favourite moments from season 1 of the show. This will include the executive producers, story editors, and lead voice actors. They’ll likely give us more information about what’s coming in season two.

Also, Lucasfilm and Quibic Pictures will hold a panel about Star Wars: Visions. This unique take on the franchise was a hit with fans, and there’ll be plenty of interesting news at this event. So, you can expect plenty of information about the design process of the show and any news about a second series.

Finally, key members of the Clone Wars series will return to close Star Wars Celebration 2022. What better way to do this than with a screening of The Siege of Mandalore?! This arc marks the end of the animated series, and we can’t think of any better way to end the event!
