Producer Says New James Bond Actor Won’t Be Young 

Celebrating the franchise’s 60th anniversary, Michael G. Wilson said the new James Bond actor would be older.

One of the oldest franchises in cinema will have a new sequel. However, it is not clear which actor will play him. We are referring to who will be the new 007 agent. The last James Bond we had was Daniel Craig, who debuted in 2006 with Casino Royale.

Fans are excited and suspenseful while waiting to know who will be the new secret agent. Some rumors had Jacob Elordi and Tom Holland as possible candidates for the character, given their recent success. However, a statement by one of the film’s producers ended that rumor.

Michael G. Wilson stated that the actors mentioned above could not play the 007 secret agent. The main reason is that they are too young, and the secret agent is supposed to be of a certain age. Bond went through wars and conspiracies, and the actor must seem to have already covered ground, commented the producer.

This last comment left fans more excited and in expectation, considering that this statement left most rumored candidates off the list.

At an event at the British Film Institute celebrating the 60th anniversary of James Bond as a film character, Wilson commented on the new film and the possibility of a new James Bond actor portraying the British spy. He said that none of the young actors on the list could play the role.

He told Deadline at the event the reason for this statement. Wilson said, “We’ve tried looking at younger people in the past.” He then added, “But trying to visualize it doesn’t work. Remember, Bond’s already a veteran. He’s had some experience. He’s a person who’s been through the wars, so to speak. He’s probably been in the SAS or something. He isn’t some kid out of high school that you can bring in and start off. That’s why it works for a 30-something.”

Although they didn’t elaborate on who it would be or if they had anyone in mind. Wilson did at least outline what the new James Bond actor would be like in this new film. It will not be a young inexperienced, but neither a man who does not have the physical qualities to perform the dangerous activities that a 007 agent must do.

Something that Wilson did reveal is the method they used to select the best actor for the role. He explained that all actors must perform a scene from the 63 James Bond movie, starring Sean Connery. The scene in question is the confrontation with the Russian spy Tatiana Romanova who is naked in his bed.

The producer said, “We always use the same scene, and that’s the one in ‘From Russia With Love’ where Bond comes back to his room after the assassination, starts taking off his shirt, and goes into the room to bathe. When will we see the next Agent 007?

The production of the next James Bond Agent 007 movie is still very young, especially if we consider that the script has not been written yet. There is also no clear idea who will be able to play the role of Agent 007. However, there are estimates from third parties as well as from the producers.

The possible release date is somewhere between the end of 2025 and the beginning of 2026. The latter is more likely than the former, which is why some call this film James Bond 26.

There are several elements in favor of the production and others against it. In favor, they have a long list of prospects that could play the character and, at the same time, meet the requirements specified by Wilson. One who would be present is Henry Cavill, the actor who brought Superman to life.

Another aspect in favor is that the public is more open to the resurrection of characters and reboots than in other times. Especially considering that he died in the agent’s last film with Daniel Craig. How Wilson and company revive him is unknown, but they will certainly bring James Bond back to life.

Not everything is rosy with the movie. There are certain hurdles to overcome. This character is officially owned by Amazon, as it bought them along with the MGM Studio. This situation would imply that they must sit down and negotiate with this company to allow the development of this film.
