I’ve been waiting for a long time for the Masters Of The Universe: Revelation anime from Kevin Smith on Netflix. But my wait is (almost) over, as we finally get the very first look from the new anime series. And they look wonderfully glorious! Along with the images, the announcement also includes a Masters Of The Universe: Revelation  release date. Fans won’t have to wait too long for the new show, as the first part premieres on Netflix on July 23 with 5 episodes. In the meantime, these new images will have to hold us over till the real thing. And they’re good enough to do just that!

Masters Of The Universe: Revelation First Look Images Are Stunning

The new anime series was long in development from Kevin Smith and one of the best animation studios ever, Powerhouse Animation. I’m still reeling from their gorgeous work in Castlevania season 4. And now I’m enamored by these first-look images from Masters Of The Universe: Revelation. The new images showcase many of the stars from the new series, along with some supporting players. But most importantly, they show off the mind-blowing new art style from Powerhouse, which looks so good that it instantly hypes you up for the new show. The still frames get me more excited for what the actual motion animated series will feel like.

Kevin Smith has long promised that the new anime series is a continuation and sequel to the original series from 1983. With the Masters Of The Universe: Revelation release date announced, we’ll soon find out just how it’s a sequel to that story. Although, the images definitely deliver on that promise, with character designs that closely resemble its predecessors. He-Man’s outfit itself is more or less the same, as are many of the supporting characters. With obvious visual upgrades for the time. The sequences depicted in still form look breathtakingly epic.

The Masters Of The Universe: Revelation Release Date And Synopsis Reveals A Lot

The synopsis from the new show reveals even more about the new anime series. And provides a few more details about what to expect.

The war for Eternal culminates in Masters Of The Universe: Revelation: Revelation, an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.

So while the series is a sequel, the synopsis implies that there may be more to it than that. It seems like the final battle between He-Man (Chris Wood) and Skeletor (Mark Hamill) will kick off a new adventure that could work as an episodic procedural, of sorts. With the heroes separated, and the Sword of Power missing, the story feels like it’ll follow a journey style formula, with Teela (Sarah Michelle Geller) finding each hero one at a time, possibly. Although it might be too premature to speculate on the specific plot points right now.

Not The First Time He-Man Got Revamped For Animation

The Masters Of The Universe: Revelation release date and images are surely getting fans excited for it. However, many are comparing the look and feel to other previous animated adventures of He-Man. But while the looks may feel similar, a better comparison will be when we finally see the full Masters Of The Universe: Revelation anime official trailer. Which shouldn’t be too far away.

The Masters Of The Universe: Revelation anime’s first part of 5 episodes premieres on Netflix on July 23.
