We’re still quite a way off from the Jedi: Fallen Order sequel game, titled Jedi: Survivor. We know that EA will release the game in 2023, although some rumours state it’ll be in March 2023. Either way, anticipation is high for the next single-player Star Wars game featuring the members of the Stinger Mantis ship. However, Survivor won’t be the only adventure featuring this crew. Today, Lucasfilm released some plot details and the cover for Jedi: Battle Scars. This will be a novel that aims to fill in the gaps between Fallen Order and Survivor.

Like Fallen Order and Survivor, Jedi: Battle Scars will feature many fan-favourite characters from the original game. So, we’ll see Cal Kestis, Greez Dritus, and Cere Junda back in action! Merrin and droid BD-1 will also join this crew in this fight against the tyranny of the Empire. However, on their travels, they come across a stormtrooper who claims to be an Empire deserter. Naturally, the Stinger Mantis’s crew aren’t sure they should trust this individual. If they do, the deserter claims she can greatly help them with their battle against the Empire with an important tool.

But, to get this weapon, they’ll have to risk it all by battling the Fifth Brother. As you might’ve guessed, he is among the toughest Inquisitors working for the Empire. Previously, a Fifth Brother appeared in the Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff show. Similarly, Fortress Inquistiories appeared during the end of Fallen Order, then again n a couple of episodes of Kenobi. So, it’s nice to see that Jedi: Battle Scars will connect to the wider Star Wars universe! You can read the full plot description below and check out the novel’s cover.

Cal Kestis has built a new life for himself with the crew of the Stinger Mantis. Together, Cal’s crew has brought down bounty hunters, defeated Inquisitors, and even evaded Darth Vader himself. More importantly, Merrin, Cere, Greez, and faithful droid BD-1 are the closest thing Cal has had to a family since the fall of the Jedi Order. Even as the galaxy’s future grows more uncertain by the day, with each blow struck against the Empire, the Mantis crew grows more daring.

So, it’s nice to see that the whole team will reunite for Jedi: Battle Scars. Also, it’s great that the writers haven’t forgotten their important mission of fighting against the Empire. Here’s the rest of the summary:

On what should be a routine mission, they meet a stormtrooper determined to chart her own course with the help of Cal and the crew. In exchange for help starting a new life, the Imperial deserter brings word of a powerful, potentially invaluable tool for their fight against the Empire. And even better, she can help them get to it. The only catch – pursuing it will bring them into the path of one of the Empire’s most dangerous servants, the Inquisitor known as the Fifth Brother.

Can the Imperial deserter truly be trusted? And while Cal and his friends have survived run-ins with the Inquisitors before, how many times can they evade the Empire before their luck runs out?

Clearly, Jedi: Battle Scars will be an exciting read!

Jedi: Survivor Release Date

Of course, it’s unclear how much Jedi: Battle Scars will influence the storyline of Survivor. We can imagine the latter game will include several references to the novel’s events. Perhaps the novel will be a side quest for the characters, or maybe it’ll be integral to the start of the game. Currently, it’s unclear when Battle Scars is set and whether it’s closer to the events of Fallen Order or Survivor.

However, we know there are about five years between Fallen Order and Survivor. Additionally, Sam Maggs wrote the book, and Lucasfilm will release it on March 7th, 2023. Unfortunately, we don’t have an official release date for Jedi: Survivor. Even so, game studio EA has recently released games with a much shorter cycle, such as Need for Speed Unbound. So, Survivor may come out shortly after Jedi: Battle Scars, although this is unconfirmed.
