House of the Dragon Releases New Poster
We miss dragons, but fear not since they appear on the newest House of the Dragon poster! A new poster for HBO’s upcoming Game of Thrones prequel came out. With a brand-new poster for the much-anticipated Game of Thrones spinoff and prequel, House of the Dragon, HBO is stoking the fans’ passion (and blood). The unsettling image shows a young Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock) standing directly in front of her enormous dragon companion Syrax. The picture’s caption reads, “Fire will reign,” which is an obscure phrase.
When House of the Dragon premieres in the fall, we’ll get our first good look at one of the many fire-breathers we’ll be meeting. The action of the drama occurs at the heyday of Targaryen supremacy, when Westeros was home to the greatest number of dragons ever. So, Syrax won’t be the only person we encounter. It’s already received a renewal for a second season.

Early posters for the HBO series Game of Thrones featured a solemn Sean Bean as Ned Stark seated on the iconic iron throne, indicating the importance of the seat over the course of the series’ seven seasons. The most recent poster for the prequel House of the Dragon chose a similarly foreboding image. This new graphic confirms how widespread dragons are while also showcasing their astounding scale. Game of Thrones previously shown the surprise of Westerosians at the existence of dragons. Before the show’s August 21st HBO Max premiere, take a look at the first House of the Dragon poster down below.
What George R. R. Martin Said About The Show

“I’ve now watched rough cuts of nine of the ten episodes, and I continue to be impressed,” Martin wrote on his blog. “I cannot speak to the SFX, many of which are not in yet, but the look of it is great, and the acting, the directing, and writing are first rate. And yes, for all you book fans, it is my story. Sure, there are some changes from Fire & Blood. We could not present three alternative versions of every major event, not and keep our sanity. But I think Ryan Condal and his writers made good choices. Even some improvements. (Heresy, I know, but being the author, I am allowed to say so).”
When the first House of the Dragon teaser aired in March of last year, when the revelation of most important characters from the series’ new photographs happened, the age of the Targaryens had arrived. The eagerly awaited show also stars Emma D’Arcy, Paddy Considine, Matt Smith, Rhys Ifans, Olivia Cooke, and Steve Toussaint and happens hundreds of years before the events of Game of Thrones.
House of the Dragon’s creators, writer Ryan Condal and director Miguel Sapochnik, were inspired by George R.R. Martin’s novel Fire & Blood. The Targaryen Empire was at its height during the Dance of the Dragons, a civil war between House Targaryen over who would succeed to the Iron Throne.
