A few days ago, the Israeli actress offered some statements about a possible third part of the Wonder Woman franchise at DC. Gal Gadot mentioned that she had spoken with DC Studios directors James Gunn and Peter Safran and was told they would develop a third part of the Amazon. In several recent films, some pointed to that being the reason for the character’s cameo appearance.

However, a new article from Variety shoots down these reports. The new information points to the fact that this development is not in the plans of DC’s directors at this time. According to sources, the closest thing to the Wonder Woman franchise would be the prequel Paradise Lost which will tell the story of the creation of the land of the Amazons.

According to a publication in Variety, the third part of the Wonder Woman saga would not be in plans for James Gunn’s DC universe. The source revealed that the initial plans of Safran and Gunn were to develop the first films with the main characters. These productions will be Superman: Legacy and Batman: Brave and Bold, both to be released in 2025.

This contradicts Gal Gadot’s previous statements. The actress claimed that she had spoken to the pair of filmmakers, and they had indicated that she would be in a new Wonder Woman production. James Gunn and Peter Safran indicated to her that they like how they portray the character. They also added that they are willing to tackle a new Wonder Woman development with her. On this, the Israeli actress said the following:

“I love portraying Wonder Woman. It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a ‘Wonder Woman 3’ together.” Gadot later added:

“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” Gadot said, “and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. love you as Wonder Woman- you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

Media sources indicated that there was never a promise or anything definitive in Gadot, Safran and Gunn’s meetings. Nor did they agree on a possible plot or start of production for this new film in the franchise.

Is Wonder Woman 3 Possible?

Considering the statements of the anonymous source to Variety makes me think that the production of the third part of Wonder Woman is not possible. However, these do not consider some elements. The first aspect that is not considered is that two universes are currently in execution at DC.

The first universe is the one that will start in 2025 with Superman: Legacy and will be DC’s main storyline. However, another universe has other alternate storylines such as Joaquin Phoenix’s The Joker and Robert Pattinson’s The Batman. In this case, we could see Wonder Woman as an alternate version of the heroine in the latter comic book world.

Another important factor to consider is James Gunn and Peter Safran’s own statements regarding Gal Gadot. They indicated they want to develop all the major DC characters. These superheroes would include Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. Therefore, a Wonder Woman production is imminent.

If you are wondering why they are not planning a third Wonder Woman sequel now, it would be because of Superman: Legacy. It is well known that both directors are working hard for that production to guarantee its success and start the new DC story on the right foot.

If we consider all this, we may have a Wonder Woman in DC. We will probably have to wait to see Gadot as the heroine again, but it is quite a problem that we will see her.

Gal Gadot Has Suffered a Henry Cavill-like Humiliation by James Gunn

Gal Gadot’s situation with James Gunn is very reminiscent of what Henry Cavill suffered. The actor went from announcing he would return as Superman to canceling his return due to the DC director’s decision.

Now the actress who plays Wonder Woman is in a similar situation. Gal Gadot recently announced that there would be a new Wonder Woman movie. However, James Gunn via Variety just denied it. Most likely, his Paradise Lost series will feature a recast for the Amazon.

Despite this, James Gunn and Peter Safran stated that the actress has a place in the new DC. Perhaps in another role. The same goes for Jason Momoa, who is rumored to move from Aquaman to another character, such as Lobo.
