After two years on hiatus, the Essence festival is back in 2022! The long-awaited largest annual black music and culture festival is coming back after having moved to a virtual event due to the pandemic. This festival had its beginnings in 1995, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Essence Music Festival. Essence went from a magazine run by African American women to one of the most significant cultural events in the United States. This 2022 is sure to bring us incredible lineups with top artists, entertainment and much more.

Since the Essence Festival kicked off, we’ve been keeping an eye on the concert schedule. We will tell you everything we know so far.

Essence festival 2022: who, where and when.

Essence festival 2022 will be the talk of the town this year, opening its galas from June 30th to July 3rd at Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The programming is varied. During the day, you will have the opportunity to network, attend conferences, offer professional development workshops, panel discussions, forums and live presentations. It will also feature interviews led by politicians, high-impact leaders from various industries, and community leaders.

At night is when Essence festival 2022 will come to life at the New Orleans Superdome. All attendees will dance, sing and enjoy with the biggest names in entertainment.

Different rhythms will be combined: blues, classic soul, hip-hop, neo-soul, and jazz. Expectations are high for artists such as Janet Jackson, Nick Minaj, Kevin Hart and New Edition These are the headliners for this summer’s roster of personalities, with many more to follow.

The order of the artists will be:

  • Thursday, June 30th – Kevin Hart
  • Friday, July 1st – Nick Minaj
  • Saturday, July 2nd – Janet Jackson
  • Sunday, July 3rd – New Edition to close the festival

How to be part of the festival this year

Passes are now available. You will enjoy three days of the festival, from July 1st to 3rd. Day tickets for Kevin Hart’s set are on sale now, as well as free registrations for the festival’s daytime programming, which is still pending announcement.

You can purchase tickets for the concert series at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Also, you can participate in the free daytime activities in the city or at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

If you want to be part of the Essence festival 2022, all you have to do is:

  • Register for the festival. Registration is required for virtual attendees or NOLA residents and is free.
  • Get tickets. You can purchase your tickets to enjoy the Essence experiences. An advanced concert package is available for the weekend.

Take into consideration that:

  • The event will be a phone-free experience, and no phones will be allowed.
  • This year’s elite lineup promises to secure tickets early to guarantee a seat.
  • Premiums are limited, so for this experience, secure your spot.

Additional information

Essence festival 2022 is the largest in the country. This year, they are expecting more than 530,000 attendees over the 4th of July weekend. The event was previously postponed in 2021 due to the COVID19 pandemic.

We will find the world’s largest multi-generational gathering in one safe space. The goal is to reach new levels of fellowship, wealth creation, personal development, civic engagement and community leadership.

There is much excitement to look forward to welcoming the Essence family back to live in New Orleans, Louisiana, where people will enjoy new digital experiences.
