Disney+ Membership Perks Being Considered

Disney+ is easily one of the most successful streaming services out there. Although it only officially launched in 2019, many fans worldwide have bought a subscription. And for a good reason – there’s a huge catalogue of films and TV shows. It’s not just Disney material available, as they also own many huge franchises like Star Wars and Marvel. Additionally, anyone with a subscription can access things like Hulu or Star. There’s a lot to choose from! However, it seems that the company will branch out with Disney+ membership perks in a similar style to Amazon.

According to rumors, the new Disney+ membership perks will include discounts on things like theme parks and other merchandise. You might be asking why Disney would want to do something like that. The answer’s simple – money. Offering trips to Disneyland at a reduced rate makes it more likely that people will go to these places. When they visit Walt Disney World Resort, they’ll get special benefits like cheaper food, drinks, or merchandise. There might even be limited time products you can only get with a Disney+ membership. It all works out as revenue for the Mouse!

Disney+ Membership Perks Rumors

This rumor comes directly from the Wall Street Journal. However, it’s important to remember that these are just very early talks at the moment. There’s no official word on Disney+ membership perks, including cheaper access to a Disney resort or Disney PhotoPass. Even so, it would make sense for Disney to do something like this.

After all, you get reduced prices at Whole Foods with an Amazon Prime subscription. Additionally, anyone with this subscription can get free shipping with the giant retail store and other perks through the Amazon Prime video. So, the company’s idea of improving existing Disney+ membership perks isn’t completely novel. According to this report, the Chief Communications Officer and Disney Senior Executive Vice President Kristina Schake had this to say:

“Technology is giving us new ways to customize and personalize the consumer experience so that we are delivering entertainment, experiences and products that are most relevant to each of our guests. A membership program is just one of the exciting ideas that is being explored.”

So, it seems like creating additional Disney+ membership perks is in the realm of possibility! However, this wouldn’t be the first time Disney has added some special perks for its subscribers. Currently, any major Mouse fans can join the official fan club for D23. Entry starts at $99.99 per year and goes up to $129.99. Fans can access special events and receive exclusive merchandise by getting an annual membership. Additionally, they also receive a reduced annual subscription to Disney+ for three years.

Naturally, the D23 fan club is aimed at those who are massive Disney fans. If they proceed with Disney+ membership perks, Disney will likely aim at the more casual fans.

Disney Plus Merchandise

As mentioned previously, some Disney+ membership perks may include exclusive content at Disney Parks or Disney World. Currently, they’re trying to allow viewers to buy special merchandise simply by scanning QR codes on the platform. According to the plan, this will take viewers to the Disney shop, where they can finalise their purchase. All of this is from one of the most popular streaming services!

Additionally, some of the merchandise suggested by people is the “dark saber” from Star Wars. Some fans have suggested that Disney could offer a replica toy version exclusively to those with an annual plan subscription. If you don’t remember the dark saber, it made a special appearance in The Mandalorian and Star Wars Rebels. It’s an iconic piece of merch from the Star Wars franchise that plenty of people would love to get their hands on.

Disney isn’t out of content they could include in their Disney+ membership perks. Not only are there huge franchises like Star Wars and Marvel, but they’ve also got access to the entire 21st Century Fox library. There’s also National Geographic and plenty of others. The world is Disney’s oyster!

What are your thoughts? Would you like to see some more Disney+ membership perks? What should they include? Let us know below!
