Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed DC’s ten-year plan for the franchise, which could mean a reboot. Batgirl’s recent cancellation has brought a lot of controversy in the DC world. This film was almost ready, and Warner had spent approximately $90 million on it. Batgirl’s release in theaters and HBO Max is now cancelled, but this was necessary, according to David Zaslav.

Zaslav stated that they would do a reboot and implement a 10-year plan. They hope to connect all DC products and make this comic book world as interrelated as Marvel does. He also commented that they would prioritize this comic book’s main characters and films.

CEO David Zaslav Revealed DC’s Ten-Year Plan

During a Q&A session, CEO David Zaslav revealed they’re working on DC’s ten-year plan. He indicated that there would be no massive movie cancellations but a reboot for the DCEU. He made the statement after the uncertainty caused by the Batgirl movie cancellation. Zaslav also said he would follow a plan as Feige does with Marvel.

In his announcement, CEO David Zaslav said, “We have done a reset. We’ve restructured the business. We’re going to focus. There will be a team with a 10-year plan focusing just on DC.” He added, “It’s very similar to the structure that Alan Horn and Bob Iger put together, very effectively, with Kevin Feige at Disney,”

CEO David Zaslav. “Our ambition is to bring Warners back and to produce great high quality films, and as we look at the opportunities that we have broadly, DC is one of the top of the list for us.” The CEO then added. “You look at Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman — these are brands that are known everywhere in the world. The ability to drive those all over the world with great story is a big opportunity for us. We have done a reset. We’ve restructured the business. We’re going to focus.”

This announcement brought good news to fans of the DC world, who expressed it virally on social media. In the posts, they were excited at the idea of the movies having a relationship and a defined vision. As Marvel does, it intertwines its films and focuses more on the quality of the movies.

The Next Kevin Feige

Warner CEO David Zaslav has a similar stance to Marvel’s Kevin Feige. He seems to have a vision of what he wants and proposes sustainable production over time. Zaslav intends to create a long-term business. It is also evident that he makes long-term decisions even though they may produce losses in the short term, as with Batgirl, which cost him 90 million dollars.

DC’s Ten-year plan aims to achieve Feige’s sustainability over time. That will last beyond the DC world, and the studio will have a solidity throughout. Considering his comment at the announcement, “build a long-term much stronger, sustainable growth business out of DC.”

CEO David Zaslav seems to be a consistent person looking to organize everything in a way that flows. Everything looks as good as possible, with the quality of the final product being the first consideration. He denotes that he has a plan that reassures many inside and outside Warner, as his productions seem to be coming out haphazardly.

Another point that fans liked was the mention that he would retake Superman. DC’s ten-year plan suggests they will take advantage of his most mighty superhero. Previous rumors claimed that Supergirl would replace Henry Cavil’s Superman. That will not happen, and the last son of Krypton will remain in DC, although we do not know if Henry Cavill will play him.

That also means that CEO David Zaslav reviews everything down to the last detail and analyzes the different scenarios, which can play a good result. He demonstrated it by announcing that they would improve Black Adam, Shazam 2 and Aquaman 2. He can even make unpredictable changes for the rest of the staff, as Feige would do with Miss Marvel when he declared her the first mutant in the MCU.

For now, it looks like he is already executing his plan progressively, as not only Batgirl was cancelled. Some series from The CW are gradually and quietly culminating too. Finally, HBO Max will merge with the Discovery streaming platform to broadcast series and movies.
