Black Panther: War For Wakanda Teaser Highlights Delayed Marvel’s Avengers Expansion
The release of Marvel’s Avengers from Square Enix was delayed and ultimately delivered a game that left some fans wanting. However, since the initial release, they’ve added expansions that enrich the game and give players more options. The latest teaser reveals the Black Panther: War for Wakanda expansion that brings the beloved character into the game and this version of the Avengers. The expansion also got a delayed after Chadwick Boseman died last year after a battle with cancer. However, the expansion is coming “later this year,” and beyond that we know surprisingly little about it.
The Square Enix game is not an MCU adaptation, though it’s very close. Most of the voice actors in the game deliver performances that sound close to their Marvel Studios’ counterparts. Nolan North’s Tony Stark sounds very close to Robert Downey, Jr.’s. Troy Baker’s Bruce Banner has hints of Mark Ruffalo’s performance throughout. (Darin De Paul’s Hulk sounds, well, like the Hulk.) We hear two new voices in the teaser. Klaw, played by Andy Serkis in the MCU, sounds very much like Steve Blum. T’Challa sounds a bit like Kratos voice-actor Christopher Judge.
The latest update for Marvel’s Avengers brought its second Hawkeye to the game, Clint Barton. There is a time-travel element to this (which we will not spoil), and it continues the story of this version of the Avengers’ battle against AIM. Along with the expansion, free to all who own the game, there is a graphics upgrade that allows the game to be played on next-gen consoles and PCs.
Marvel’s Avengers by Square Enix is out now for all consoles and Black Panther: War for Wakanda will release later this year, per the teaser.
