However, it already has a confirmed date for its first theatrical release. Warner Bros. has already given several previews of the movie, such as the movie trailer that shows part of the movie’s plot. They also released several posters involving not only the villain but also several known heroes, as is the case of Dr. Fate. We will soon see this Shazam’s enemy appear in the DC Universe. We know many aspects about the movie that Dwayne Johnson will make, playing the DC villain. First of all, he won’t be the only DC character that will be in this movie. We will also have other heroes that will debut in the film, such as Dr. Fate, Hawkman, Atom Smasher, and Cyclone.

In the trailer, we saw how the anti-hero originates and some confrontations between him and Hawkman. How this character delivers his justice from the beginning and how Dr. Fate intervenes to try to guide him on the path of good.

Many wonders if this character will join the DC Universe or be a stand-alone character. Warner has given no Black Adam news and continues to present individual character productions. However, we could expect a possible integration with characters from that world, as is done with Venom at Marvel.

Release Date and Cast

The film’s release date changed several times due to various situations. Initially, the movie was to be produced in 2020 and released in 2021. However, due to COVID19, there was a delay in the filming, and it was postponed to July 29, 2022. Due to production problems, Warner Bros. rescheduled the release date to October 21, 2022.

The film stars Dwaine Jhonson (The Rock), portraying the DC villain. Other important actors we will have are Sarah Sahi with the role of Isis, Noah Centineo representing Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge will fly as Hawkman, and Pierce Brosnan will bring the wisdom of Dr. Fate.

Jhonson stated about his participation in this movie, highlighting his excitement and that it was a childhood dream come true. He always wanted to be a superhero in the style of Superman. However, this is someone very orderly and straight, something that The Rock details that he is not. Black Adams is the character that goes more with him and has the heart of a child in the body of an adult.

Black Adam Plot and Trailer

In the trailer, we see part of the film’s plot with the protagonist being an enslaved person in ancient Egypt. His son is killed to save his life. However, he would also die there. Yet, he is resurrected with powers granted by the gods, much like Shazam.

Subsequently, he is locked in a tomb and released in the 21st century. At this moment, he sets out to impart his justice and not bow down to anyone as he did in the past. He begins by taking on military groups and eliminating villains, and the first encounter with Hawkman occurs. In this scene, Black Adam stresses that he does not have the qualities of a hero, considering that they do not kill people, but he does.

We see how Dr. Fate talks to him, describing the problems that have caused him to obtain these powers. Also, it indicates the destiny he saw in his vision, depending on his decisions. Fate tells him that Adam could be either the destroyer of the world or the savior of it, but that it is up to him.

Team Behind This Movie

The director behind this filming is Jaume Collet-Serra. He worked with the Rock once before on the Disney-produced Jungle Cruise. The creative team wrote the script by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Hoshirvani.

On the photography side, we have the Oscar nominee for his participation in the movie Joker, Lawrence Sher. In other groups, we have the film’s editing team, having John Lee and Michael L. Sale. Warners Studios and DC Comics are producing the film.

Many look forward to this film with high expectations due to the recent failure and incidences in the DC movies. The Amber Heard scandal, the departure of Ezra Miller in The Flash, and the Shazam’s failure at the time and other Warner productions. For the plot shown, this film could rescue and raise the DC superhero world again, although this character is not quite a hero. We’ll be waiting for more Black Adam news in the following weeks.
