Former actress Amanda Bynes’ conservatorship will end after a ruling by a California judge. Bynes, who acted since she was 11 years old, had a very prosperous career. You probably remember her from Nickelodeon‘s The Amanda Show, or for romantic movies like Easy A and She’s All That. In show business, not everything is rosy. When Bynes was 25, she began acting strangely and got arrested for hit-and-run, DUI, reckless endangerment, and driving with a suspended license. These were the causes that put the former actress under her parents’ care until today. The California judge Roger L. Lund issued a preliminary ruling, giving absolute freedom to the young woman.

Unlike Britney Spear’s conservatorship which was a complete struggle to end, Amanda Bynes’ conservatorship ends on good terms. Amanda’s parents are thrilled with the decision, as they also feel it’s time for their daughter to live her life. After undergoing various treatments to alleviate her mental health, she took a new direction. Amanda Bynes is now retired from acting and recently graduated from the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising.

According to statements made by the judge in the trial, there are still certain elements to discuss regarding her conservatorship. But from this moment on, Bynes will be able to act on her own.

Amanda Bynes’ Filed the Petition to end her Conservatorship with her Parents’ Support

On February 23rd, Amanda Bynes filed the legal documents to request her nine-year conservatorship reach an end. Her parents have backed up her decision and are now excited to see their daughter get back on track.

The judge who ruled to end her conservatorship determined that she could now manage independently without being under her parents’ care. Judge Roger Lund ruled that “the conservatorship is no longer required and that grounds for establishment of a conservatorship of the person no longer exist.”

This ruling puts an end to a conservatorship that had lasted almost ten years. By order of the same court, Bynes was placed under her mother’s care in 2013 since her behavior put her and the people around her at risk.

However, this is not all the legal process Bynes has to go through. Since the judge’s ruling certainly gave the young woman her freedom back, she has not, however, had her trust fund returned to her. Bynes must apply for it in court to get it back, as the judge indicated. In this case, no one has said why the former actress cannot have control, not even her lawyers.

What Caused Amanda to Reach this Point?

Many people not so familiar with the actress ask what caused this conservatorship in the first place. The main reason was the strange and somewhat erratic behavior the actress displayed from 2010 to 2013. Bynes was arrested for criminal possession of substances, hitting another car and fleeing the scene, and even setting part of her house on fire.

After psychiatric examinations, doctor’s determined that the actress had a mental illness. She was diagnosed with ‘bipolar and manic depressive disorders. All this led to putting her under the conservatorship of her parents. During these nine years, they were carrying out all the necessary treatments for her recovery.

Currently, they are happy for their daughter’s recovery and agree with her return to be released from their care. Many wonder what the former actress will do now and if she will return to show business.

Bynes went through some tough times with her mental illness. After undergoing several treatments, she now has the mental, emotional, and financial stability to manage her own life. We hope that cases like Amanda Bynes’ and Britney Spears’ conservatorship keep bringing attention to this matter, and we hope Amanda can move on and continue to improve her life.
