Hopefully, we’ve left behind a year of delays, cancelations, shutdowns, and lockdowns. Stepping into 2021, the entertainment industry has a backlog of new movies that are set to release. Whether it’s Warner Bros’ entire slate of 2021 movies on HBO Max, or the delayed Marvel movies like Black Widow, there’s something for everyone. And with that in mind, I sit down with two of’s feature editors, Meghan Hale and Salome, to run down our most anticipated movies of 2021.

Our Most Anticipated Movies Of 2021 Are Pretty Varied

2020 ended on a kind of sour note with the divisive reaction to Wonder Woman 1984. While Soul definitely did a lot to cleanse the palette, the end of the year’s big two movies wasn’t as satisfying as we all expected. So the pressure is definitely on in 2021, as some of the biggest movies of the past year, along with planned 2021 movies will finally release. From DC superhero movies, Marvel Cinematic Universes additions, a new potential Disney princess, the return of another divisive franchise, this year is full of new and newer released.

Our Editors List Their Top 5 Movies

Listen to “The Most Anticipated Movies Of 2021” on Spreaker.

We start off by discussing which movies disappointed us the most with the delays and pushing back the release from 2020 to 2021. So listen to this episode of the Comic Years Podcast, as Meghan, Salome and myself count down our top 5 most anticipated movies of 2021. My list is pretty obvious, but there are some genuine surprises here from everyone. Meghan gives an honourable mention to a movie filmed entirely in secret during lockdown. Salome tries to figure out what I’m taking about during a faux pas. So listen to the episode for who I initially thought directed the 1984 Dune movie. But over all, This episode definitely put some new movies on my radar for 2021, such as Nomadland.

Also: our own Managing Editor gets a surprise shoutout with his most anticipated movie of the year, and it’s not what you think it is. Neither does he, I believe. You can listen to the episode directly on the browser above. Or use any one of the major podcasting platforms like Apple Podcasts and others. Subscribe to the show on Apple Podcasts and leave us a rating and your review.
