The Comic Years Podcast: Our Favourite Queer Representation In Movies
We at ComicYears.com have spent Pride Month taking a look at various forms of queer representation in genre fiction. Our intrepid team has discussed the best queer novels, representation in the sci-fi and fantasy genres, and not to mention how queer elements even make it into seemingly non-queer movies like Thor: Ragnarok. More recently, even Marvel celebrated the month by confirming the bi-sexuality of a popular MCU character in one of their TV shows. So it’s time for us to take look at the same in some of our favorite movies on this episode of the Comic Years Podcast. Check out this queer representation podcast featuring Meghan Hale, Emily O’Donnell, Roman Colombo, and myself, who is not the host for this show.
What Representation Means To The Comic Years Team

Unlike usual episodes, I’m not actually the host of this very special episode of the Comic Years Podcast. And I couldn’t be happier as Meghan Hale takes over the hosting, and kicks the show off by giving us a lot to think about. The queer representation podcast really starts off very personal about exactly what representation means to us all. It was illuminating and insightful, in a very unexpected way. And speaking of unexpected, the team’s choices of their favorite queer movies, was just as much of a surprise.
The Queer Representation Podcast Has Some Varied Choices
The episode features, not just some great movies, but also some special moments. Emily discusses many of her favorite queer movies, most of which I definitely made a list of at the end. Some of them were actually stage-plays or rock operas before their film adaptations. Meghan brings up her best queer movie, one that might be considered underrated by many standards. And Roman’s best queer movie is also a huge Oscar winner. We end up closing out the show with our honorary mentions that didn’t make our final picks. And, as usual, I use the opportunity to slip in some very queer-themed Bollywood movies.
So check out the queer representation podcast, and be sure to subscribe to the show on Apple Podcasts and everywhere else podcasts are available.
