According to Insiders, Warner Bros. The Snyderverse gets rejected as they believe it has been detrimental to DC Films. It has now been five years since the campaign that spurred the streaming of Justice League: Snyder Cut. The quality of the film and the director’s vision led fans to demand more from Warner. In fact, the campaign continues on social media, but this time for the director’s return to the DC Extended Universe.

Even though the film didn’t release in theaters but on HBO MAX, the public achieved its goal: to see this 4-hour production. That encouraged the hopes of fans who keep posting to provoke the return of the director. However, this time we could have different results, given the statements of some managers and recent reports.

Warner Bros. Rejects the Snyderverse

The hopes fans had for the return of director Zack Snyder to DC films seem to have vanished after editor and creative director of DC Comics, Jim Lee’s statements. Lee said, “there’s no plan for additional work on that material,” but commented that Snyder’s version of the Justice League deserved to be told.

That is in addition to statements Lee reportedly made at the San Diego Comic-Con in a special panel. Reporters asked the executive several questions about the possibility of continuing the Snyderverse. Lee would respond to the question, “I work on the projects that are in development, and so I think was Zack’s vision realized and it was a really satisfying story told, but there’s no plan for additional work on that material. So, I was happy to help contribute to the pitch for the other stuff, and it was kind of fun to actually see that stuff get out there cause I did that stuff years ago… I actually thought it had been erased, but they kept it in storage.”

Walter Hamada and David Zaslav also have plans to accompany these statements. Despite their apparent differences after the cancellation of Batgirl, both agree that DC needs a reboot. Given the problems and low box office on Snyder’s films, such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the director will likely not return to DC.

Another confirmation that Warner no longer wants anything to do with Snyder is the recent report from Rolling Stone showing that the studio no longer has any interest and intention to rehire this director. In fact, they are already taking steps to part ways with him and even his version of the Justice League.

Insiders Reaffirm Warner’s Position

Insiders and Warner members reportedly reject this universe within the studio. That goes not only for future productions within the DC world but also for past films directed by Snyder, including his 4-hour version of Justice League.

For the studio, the airing of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on the HBO Max platform was something that should never have happened in the first place. They feel that it left them in the wrong position since, instead of diminishing the strength of the campaign in favor of Snyder, it only boosted it.

The Snyder Cut was so shocking that even Jim Lee himself recognized it. However, Warner insiders believe it showed the fans that they have power over the company’s decisions. For that reason, Warner has decided to erase all existence of that version of the movie, including the footage used from the film by documentary filmmaker Leslie Iwerks. Insiders want the DC world to be free of all traces of Snyder’s work. They are likely waiting for The Flash to eliminate any trace of it, including Ezra Miller’s Flash, Ben Affleck’s Batman, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, and Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.

We will have to see how the stories fit together after the Flashpoint. How the characters will look, and if there is any Snyder’s trait in them or if they would change radically.
