The Top Gun Maverick trailer reaction is here. This movie brings us the adventures of Pete Mitchell (Maverick), no less than 36 years after the first instalment, Top Gun. The first impressions are overwhelming; Tom Cruise seems never to age! The film recovers the first instalment stars and incorporates new generation actors into the cast.

The Top Gun Maverick Trailer Takes your Breath Away

Many fans of the first instalment expected this new trailer for the sequel. We know Hollywood has a bad habit of ruining franchises to cash in, which isn’t the case. The trailer is packed with action, breathtaking aviation scenes, fanservice moments, and a cast of top-notch actors.

Top Gun Maverick’s trailer shows a veteran Pete Mitchell, who remains in top shape. We see Tom Cruise performing incredible aerial acrobatics in what promises to be a constant action film. From what we can see, Captain Pete “Maverick” Mitchell will have the role of an experienced pilot serving as a mentor to the new generations. Among the young actors that we could see in the trailer stands out the presence of Miles Teller, known for successful films such as Whiplash or War Dogs. Jennifer Connelly, who seems to be Pete’s love interest, is among the actors from the previous movie.

Another aspect that is making a significant impact is the return of Val Kilmer as “Iceman” Kazansky, who, although not directly seen, is directly referenced through a photograph. A quick Google search shows him as a cast member, and our hype is real. This appearance has raised a lot of debate as the last few times we could see the actor in public appearances look significantly deteriorated due to his recent throat cancer.

Constant Production Delays for this Movie

The original release date for Top Gun: Maverick was scheduled for July 12, 2019. At that time, the production could not meet the deadline due to the complexity of the aerial fight scenes, so characteristic of the franchise. They moved the new scheduled release date to June 26, 2020, and this date was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

This problem caused a further delay to November 19, 2021. Tom Cruise had to face a tough time in his career, as in addition to working on Top Gun: Maverick, he was also in the middle of production on the next instalment of Mission Impossible.

These last two years have not been easy for the famous actor and producer. However, we already have a definite date for the new Top Gun movie, May 27, 2022.

Top Gun Maverick: all the Details

Joseph Kosinski, director of Oblivion, Tron Legacy, and heroes in hell, among other popular movies, is in charge of the film.

Here’s what we can bring to the Top Gun Maverick trailer reaction: More than three decades have passed since the previous adventure. The world has changed, and technological advances have allowed fighter planes to no longer require pilots. We can expect the film to revolve around the debate of whether human pilots are obsolete today or if they are still necessary. At this moment is where Maverick will appear to show them that pilots are still indispensable to the air force.

In this new film, new pilots will interact with veterans, where some will try to adapt to the reality of the others, creating an interesting generational tension that will not leave anyone indifferent.

Cruise has stated several times that there will be actual flights and that it will be thrilling at the height of the previous Top Gun. He also stressed that they minimized visual effects, so much of what we will see in the film will be genuine for an extra touch of adrenaline.
