The Russo Brothers Comment On Leading The New Kevin Feige Star Wars Film
One of the most successful groups of directors is undoubtedly the Russo brothers, made up of Anthony and Joe Russo. They were involved in several big-name Marvel movies such as Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War. Now the band of brothers could be going to another Disney subsidiary or studio, although it would not be for Marvel but for LucasFilm. There is a strong possibility of the Russo brothers developing a new Star Wars movie. Joe Russo made the official announcement in a podcast addressing the situation.

On the podcast show, Smartless from Total Film magazine, filmmaker Joe Russo commented that he and his brother had a meeting with Kevin Feige. The topic of the conversation was the direction of the Star Wars movie that the Marvel president has been producing since 2019.
The Russo brothers confirmed his enthusiasm for the idea because he likes the Star Wars plot and would love to develop it. He also commented that they would be willing to work with Feige and would be happy to participate in this filming.
Feige announced this LucasFilm production in 2019. However, it needs to move forward more quickly. Considering the Russo brothers’ trajectory, they can give it the boost it needs to get it out of the drawer of Star Wars projects. We can look at the last two Avengers films, Infinity War and Endgame, among the filmmakers’ successes. There is also Netflix’s The Grey Man production which was a hit on the platform.

The first development for this film was hiring Michael Waldron in 2022 to write the script. Kevin Feige revealed that this new movie would not be a sequel or prequel to Star Wars. The showrunner said he was happy to work on a restriction-free production without needing to reshoot or modify things later.
It all seemed that Feige’s Star Wars development would be at the top of the selection of films to develop. However, that perception went up in smoke when the writer and the studio broke the contract on this 2023 development of Secret Wars. Waldron was under contract until 2025 to write the story mentioned above.
This situation caused the studio to pause Feige’s Star Wars project indefinitely. The producer then had to look for directors and writers who could incentivize the studio to put it on the production map again. That may be why the Marvel president’s meeting with the Russo brothers. He hopes they can bring back to life this development that had so many setbacks from the beginning.
Joe Russo did not state whether he would have accepted the proposal, although it is undoubtedly under discussion on both sides. First, Lucasfilm must approve the project’s revival to incorporate the filmmakers. Considering their current situation, it is also likely that the brothers are discussing this production and whether it has a future.
