The Flash Movie Set Shows Double Barry Allen, Setting Up The DC Multiverse

Having two of something is always better than having one right? In terms of superhero movies…maybe? Or it could mean something big and bad is about to go down. In a recent tweet of The Flash movie set, eagle-eyed fans spotted not one, but TWO Barry Allens, or at least another actor that looks like Ezra Miller.

As we had learned at DC FanDome, The Flash movie will introduce the DC Multiverse, much to the delight of viewers everywhere. This includes the various numbered Earths across the Multiverse, which we saw a bit of in the Arrowverse’s Crisis on Infinite Earths, as well as a Michael Keaton as Batman appearance, so I can only imagine how epic the introduction to the DC Multiverse will be. Given that plus the fact that the Flash has a penchant for time travel makes it likely that this IS another Barry Allen. (Grant Gustin is rumored to have a cameo in the movie, upping the number to three.) On Twitter, some people pointed out that the look-alike actor had visual effects equipment on his back, likely for CGI-ing Miller’s face onto the unknown actor’s.

The Flash movie is taking inspiration from The Flashpoint Paradox, which sees Barry Allen traveling back in time in an attempt to save his mother. As usual, the time-traveling causes Barry to enter a bleaker alternate universe, where the Amazons and Atlanteans are at war and Bruce Wayne is dead. Whether this plotline will be incorporated into the movie remains to be seen, but it would allow the other members of the Justice League to eventually be added to the DC Multiverse. Gustin’s series already did a version of this story, but without the other major DC characters. It’s possible Muschietti and company are using the bare bones idea, and making it fit into the world of the DCEU (and beyond).

We don’t know much else about the plot for The Flash but director Andy Muschietti has been teasing bits from the movie including an updated Flash outfit, bloody Michael Keaton Batman logo, and Sasha Calle’s Supergirl costume.

The Flash will strike theaters November 4, 2022.

Does this latest picture of The Flash movie set mean Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen will meet many other versions of himself? Let us know in the comments below!
