The Echo Wife By Sarah Gailey Will Get A Film Adaptation
Sarah Gailey’s newest novel The Echo Wife will come to the big screen for a feature film adaptation from Annapurna Pictures. The sci-fi book just came out in February of 2020. And several major production companies competed over the rights, with Annapurna emerging victorious. So many books are seeing adaptation for film and television these days, so Gailey’s feminist sci-fi novel about clones and murder seems ripe for the big screen.

A synopsis from Tor tells us the following about The Echo Wife. “Brilliant scientist Evelyn Caldwell is at the top of her field in clone development when she discovers her ex-husband Nathan stole her research to create her genetic replica. And he’s been living with her clone for months. The clone, Martine, is programmed to be everything Evelyn is not. A patient, gentle, obedient wife, and soon-to-be mother. After a morning that begins with a confrontation and ends with Nathan’s body bleeding out on the kitchen floor, Evelyn and Martine are left with only each other to cover up Nathan’s mess, to protect Evelyn’s life’s work and to confront the traumas of her, and now their past.”

She cut her genre teeth on the Wizard of Oz books at the tender age of 6 years old, and was reading epic adult fantasy novels by the age of 10. Decades later, she still consumes genre fiction like there is no tomorrow. She is delighted to be living through the golden age of sci-fi and fantasy popularity. She is unashamed of the amount of fanfiction that still lingers online under her name.
