Are you running out of movies to watch in quarantine? Well, Disney+ has got your back. A new film about a group of superhero teenagers is heading to Disney+ this summer! You can check out the trailer for the upcoming film, Secret Society of Second-Born Royals, below.

Superhero Teenagers To Star In Upcoming Disney+ Series

Secret Society of Second-Born Royals stars Peyton Elizabeth Lee as Sam, a teenage royal with a passion for rebelling. She is a second-born and appears to live in the shadow of her sister, Eleanor. Sam discovers that second-borns in royal lineages all have unique superpowers, and she teams up with a group of other second-born royals as they learn more about their powers and are thrown into some life-saving chaos.

Now, upon first glance, this plot seems a bit whacky. The idea of only second-born royals getting powers is a bit bizarre, but hey, what great Disney idea didn’t start from something bizarre? As a second-born with an older sister, I probably would have loved to see a movie about the unique struggles of that life. While viewers may not be royals, many can relate to feeling like they’re living in the shadow of someone else.

Some New Disney+ Fun

Plenty of subscribers have complained about how Disney+ has a lack of new content. While working on new projects like the Percy Jackson series, Disney Plus has relied on previously released content to draw in subscribers. Sure, their library of films and series is extensive, but very little of it is new. So, having Secret Society of Second-Born Royals added to the service is a delightful addition for those who are looking for something new to stream. It’s also one of the rare superhero properties in live-action that doesn’t come from a comic book or cartoon. For better or worse, the premise of second-born royal siblings with superpowers is wholly unique.

Secret Society of Second-Born Royals is going straight to Disney+ on July 17th, 2020. So, if you want to watch some non-Marvel superhero content, this series might be the one for you!
