Sony Pictures’ He-Man movie was one of the many Masters of the Universe properties coming our way in the next few months. However, it looks like the live-action reboot may be in trouble. In a recent report that saw many of Sony’s film dates shuffled around. Their live-action He-Man movie is no longer on the schedule and delayed indefinitely.

Sony Pictures’ Delayed He-Man Movie Is One Of Many He-Man Projects

He-Man has become a hot commodity in recent times. There are several Masters of the Universe properties currently in development. Firstly, there is the Anime sequel titled Masters Of The Universe: Revelation spearheaded by Kevin Smith for Netflix. This series will in the Anime style, by the makers of Castlevania, and be a sequel to the original series.

Netflix has yet another He-Man reboot series in development for 2021. A CG Animated show by the makers of Trollhunters, which will be purely a reboot, not connected to any other He-Man content. A He-Man adjacent show that is also on Netflix, She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power is winning accolades left and right as well. And the creator of She-Ra has not ruled out a crossover Christmas Special between one of these He-Man series and She-Ra. DC Comics also has an ongoing comic book universe for the Masters of the Universe characters.

The last piece of their puzzle was Masters of the Universe in live-action, starring Netflix darling Noah Centineo. Yet, Sony Pictures’ delayed the He-Man movie indefinitely, which could mean the movie will not go forward in its current form. They could just be giving the storytellers more time to get it right. Or, executives aren’t happy with what they developed and want to start over from the beginning.

Uncharted Pushed Out Sony Pictures’ He-Man Movie

The Deadline report detailed many of the changes to Sony Pictures’ release calendar. The biggest news profiles how Sony’s long-awaited Uncharted movie is now delayed from a December 2020 release date to March 2021. That spot was originally reserved for the live-action He-Man movie. Uncharted moving into He-Man’s release date is not a big deal, as studios often shuffle release dates based on their own internal plans and agendas. However, what’s telling is that He-Man currently has no revised date on the release calendar.

Release Dates Moving Is Not A Big Deal, But Sometimes It’s Doom!

When a studio completely removes a movie from its release calendar, it doesn’t bode well. The news of a live-action He-Man reboot by Sony Pictures’ received mixed results by audiences. As was the casting of Noah Centineo in the role, given the last live-action He-Man played by Dolph Lundgren, was vastly different. But the sheer number of He-Man content in development does show a love and interest for the source material.

The removal of the He-Man movie doesn’t seem to due to any specific thing that we as outsiders can be privy to right now. I was definitely concerned earlier with all these He-Man properties in development. But none of them have premiered or debuted, for Sony to react to negatively enough to shelve the live-action movie. So it’s a wonder why the He-Man live-action movie is now delayed. If not shelved indefinitely? Hopefully, there will be more news to come.

Do you find Sony Pictures removing He-Man from its release schedule to be as ominous as I do? Let me know in the comments below.
