Shazam 2 Fury Of The Gods Launches A 35 To 40 Million Output

The release of Shazam 2 is just a few days away, and the estimates of the box office to be obtained seem to be relatively short. According to the researches, this movie could get quite a small opening, being able to get from this one between 35 to 40 million dollars. 

Some analysts review the information and ensure it could get a little more. In fact, it could reach approximately what its prequel got. It would not make much difference. In fact Warner Bros. would need much larger numbers to alleviate its current financial situation.

Shazam 2 Could Start With a Rather Low Box Office

The first projections for the release of Shazam 2 are already available. Analysts and producers claim this movie could gross between $35 million and $40 million on its opening day. This amount would be low, considering Ant-Man 3 grossed over $100 million.

These estimates are the most pessimistic in Hollywood studios, which since the pandemic, have had short estimates because of the downturn in the market due to COVID-19. However, other estimates are more positive and consider that its performance could be better, being on par with its prequel or even higher.

It is worth noting that Shazam 2019 grossed $53.5 million in its global release. This one managed to get $366 million in the global total, with a development cost of $100 million. Regarding the domestic box office, it earned $140.5 million in the U.S. market and $43.8 million in the Chinese market.

Despite these estimates, Warner and D.C. can still change things. We must remember that they have three weeks to promote Shazam 2 to achieve a greater impact and increase revenues. 

What Do we Know About This Sequel so Far?

As for the information of Shazam 2, it is known that the heroes are facing a serious situation. The five champs have clashing egos, along with volatile teenage behavior, which causes them to be unable to work together. This will bring strong divisions that Billy Patson must reverse before a group of villains destroy them and the world.

As for the latter group, they are the daughters of the god Atlas who search for divine powers. They are convinced that this group was responsible for stealing their father’s powers. So they will do everything they can to get them, even if they must destroy the whole world to achieve it.

In the Shazam 2 trailer, we can see how these goddesses captured the magician. Also, Billy Patson rescues him and tells him that he will have to make the ultimate sacrifice if he wants to save his brothers and the world. This is considering several of them no longer have powers since the goddesses took them from them.   

The film will be released on March 17, 2023, the second superhero movie to be released in the year mentioned.
