There is a Parasite graphic novel coming soon. The Academy Award-winning movie that took the world by storm will now become a graphic novel. Using writer-director Bong Joon Ho’s own storyboards, the novel will showcase the depth and insight with which Bong directed the film.

How Parasite Defied The Odds To Win Best Picture

Parasite was the first-ever non-English language film to win the best picture Oscar at the 92nd Academy Awards. On top of that, it also won best international film, best director and best original screenplay. The film was an early favorite, championed by anyone and everyone who saw it. The story of the economic struggles of one middle-class family in Korea and the depths they go to in order to simply survive was beautiful. The film showcased these divides within the class system in Korea in an engaging and entertaining way. Not to mention making audiences worldwide relate to universal depiction of a class divide, in such an effective and evocative way.

Parasite Graphic Novel Is Not The First Adaptation Of The Oscar-Winning Movie

The Parasite graphic novel is but one of the ways that the acclaimed movie is going to reach other markets. Similarly, there is already a Hollywood remake on the way at HBO, a series instead of a film. The new series is from Adam McKay, with the involvement of Bong Joon Ho. The HBO series looks to expand upon the story without the constraints of a 2-hour film format, using an episodic TV series to (hopefully) enrich and expand the story. Bong has already discussed how the series will enhance the experience from the film by broadening the world and growing the story we’ve already seen.

Bong Joon Ho’s Own Movie Storyboards Used For The Parasite Graphic Novel

The Parasite graphic novel will be from Director Bong’s own drawn storyboards for the film, as reported by THR. The director drew out every shot and frame before shooting in vivid details, along with dialogue stage and camera directions. The 304-page book was already released in South Korea, with the USA release to be on May 19. The book would be another way to experience the film, through the Director’s eyes before the material changed through the performances and cinematic visuals. It’s a great supplemental material for fans of Parasite or cinephiles in general.

Parasite is now available on Blu-ray DVD and the Parasite graphic novel. will release on May 19.
