Honestly, we never anticipated that a Venom film would be so high on our radar of things to look forward to. The character was already developed to what could have been its cinematic fullest back in 2007 with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, played by a miscast Topher Grace. But after the surprisingly successful Venom in 2018, we learned to trust the process and give Sony (and Marvel) a chance at redemption. The sequel is coming, and from what we can tell in the new trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it’s about time to get our hopes up.

Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is going to have a tough time living a normal life, which we saw in the last trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage. He is going through the stages that we barely got to see with Bruce Banner and The Hulk, as he fights to find a comfortable balance of living as a host. Meanwhile, as seen in the trailer above, Venom is out there eager to get to snacking on bad guys.
Sure, we’re excited to see Eddie and Venom do their “Odd Couple” dance. But perhaps the most exciting premise of the film is to see Woody Harrelson back in the role of an antagonist. The actor, often known for his familiar face and easy-going attitude, is ready to throw some fists and go up against one of the most intriguing symbiotes out there. He is set to play Cletus Kasady, a.k.a. Carnage, a serial-killer turned symbiote host with less desire to find balance than Eddie.
Plenty of superhero (and supervillain) films have explored understandable motives, insane bad guys, and powerful threats. But rarely do they go for the fully possessive elements of terror like with Venom, and this sequel will see it stepped up to another level.
