New Mario Movie Trailer At New York Comic-Con 2022

Comic-con 2022 will present a new Mario movie trailer. Fans have great expectations about this film, starring Chris Pratt, among other big names.

Super Mario Bros. is one of the most legendary games in history. Since its first arcade version came out in 1983, it has been a success that has continued to grow until today. If you are a fan of the character and the game, now you will also see him in a movie that Nintendo will release together with Illumination.

Initially, Nintendo planned the official release for December 2022. However, plans have changed, with a tentative release date of April 2023. Nintendo president Shigeru Miyamoto commented on this adjustment on his Twitter account. A representative of Illumination also confirmed it.

The reasons for such a change are unknown, although it is likely to have developmental delays. Because it has no official trailer, and we are only three months away from December. They declared the release date of the new Mario movie trailer and further information about it in the presentation at New York Comic-Con 2022.

Although we will not have the new Mario movie this year, we will have its trailer soon. Nintendo communicated this through its official Twitter account, saying it will be presented at Comic-Con 2022 in New York. It will be shown at the event on October 6 this year at the Nintendo panel.

The event will take place at the Empire State Building. The presentation time will be 1:00 PM Pacific Time, 9:00 PM in the UK, and 4:00 PM in the East. In this event, they will show all the news about the character, and this not only includes the movie, but they will also have new games for the Switch console.

Nintendo stated they have big surprises around the plumber who always faces Bowser to save the Mushroom kingdom. This includes the game Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, which will be available on Nintendo Switch. On this, they will show the game modes that you have available to enjoy this title.

The new Mario movie trailer will likely have the actors who give the voices to these characters, as is the case of Chris Pratt, who will provide the voice to Mario in this production. We could also see Jack Black, who plays Bowser, and Charlie Day, who represents Luigi.

We will likely see the president of Nintendo at this event making the movie presentation. It may include Chris Meledandri, one of Illumination’s advisors who has been active in this movie’s development.   

What we Know so far About the Movie

As previously mentioned, the new Mario movie has been postponed release date, but soon we will see the first trailer. Initially, it was going to be released in December 2022. Now, it will be in spring 2023. The exact date varies according to the region. At least for North America and Japan in April 2023.

Miyamoto-san commented on Twitter: “After consulting with Chris-san, my partner at Illumination for the Super Mario Bros. movie, we have decided to move the worldwide release to spring 2023: April 28 in Japan and April 7 in North America. My sincerest apologies, but I promise it will be worth the wait.”

As for the plot, likely, we won’t get much out of the game. In this one, we will see how Bowser kidnaps Princess Peach again, having Mario and Luigi rescue her from the dragon. They will have the help of other Nintendo characters, which, depending on how you see it, acted as friends and enemies at the time. We are referring to Donkey Kong, the plumber’s enemy in the arcade game, and one of his companions Cranky Kong. In the latest Nintendo titles, they are shown as friends, specifically from Nintendo 64.

As for the actors who will portray the characters in this movie, we have first Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Anya Taylor-Joy voicing Princess Peach. There’s also Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Keegan-Michael Key playing Toad, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Foreman Spike.

Nintendo and Illumination are jointly producing the film. It will be animated, most likely with 3D effects.
