The Brazilian comic-con, known as CCXP, is one that rivals the San Diego Comic-Con in terms of scope and fan passion. So, when Marvel announced its presence there, fans knew they were in for something special. What they got was Kevin Feige and some footage from Eternals exclusive to CCXP. We don’t have a clip to show, but we can break down what they showed. Also, we can talk about how the man who took over all of Marvel said that this film will change the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a big way.

What Was In the CCXP Eternals Footage Kevin Feige Showed

The CCXP footage Kevin Feige showed was described as “raw,” which makes sense since filming is still underway on Eternals. It began with Barry Keoghan’s Druig welcoming a group of Eternals to a pastoral setting. Gemma Chan was in the group, who despite playing a role in Captain Marvel will also play Sersi. Richard Madden plays Ikaris, and he was there. Also Kingo, played by Kumail Nanjiani, Sprite, played by Lia McHugh, and Makkari, played by Lauren Ridloff joined them. Finally, CCXP fans got a glimpse of Angelia Jolie playing Thena, and rocking blonde hair. “Make yourself at home,” Druig says.

Yet, as idyllic as the opening was, a series of short clips followed. Kingo appeared in a kind of Bollywood homage. Characters used their powers a bit (which means that some VFX had to be added). Thena was also seen in a blistering fight scene. Ikaris and Sersi appeared in a scene with romantic overtones, hinting at a love story. Finally, Salma Hayek’s Ajak showed up with a mandate for the other Eternals. “This world has changed,” she says, “we must protect it.” Reactions suggested that fans of Jack Kirby’s iconic art style “will be pleased,” according to Deadline.

Eternals Will Alter the MCU in a Major Way According to Feige

Along with the Eternals footage Kevin Feige brought to CCXP, he also spoke about the upcoming Disney+ series. Stills were shown from Falcon and the Winter Solder and WandaVision, the latter in the style of an early 1960s sitcom. He also teased the upcoming movie about Shang-Chi and Dr. Strange, which will also star Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff.

Yet, Feige said that Eternals is the big shift for the MCU in Phase 4. He said that the events of this movie will “redefine and change” the MCU going forward. Since this film is rumored to be set long in Earth’s past, that’s telling. Both this and Black Widow, which just released a trailer, are set before the events of Infinity War and Endgame. It appears that before the MCU can go forward, it’s got to delve into its past.

For those wanting to see the CCXP Eternals footage, Kevin Feige has some bad news. He said that the rest of us will have to “wait months” to see it. Likely this means it won’t come out until there is a teaser trailer, likely in early Spring. The film will debut in theaters on November 6, 2020.

Dwayne Johnson Reveals Concept Art and Release Date for Black Adam Movie

It’s not a controversial statement to say that the state of the DC Extended Universe is in flux. Starting with Zach Snyder’s (underrated, in my opinion) Man of Steel, Warner Bros. tried to emulate Marvel Studios by creating a shared universe for their heroes. Since then, they’ve had a hit-or-miss track record. Snyder’s follow-ups, Batman […]

Moira X is Getting Her Own Comic in Dawn of X Wave 2

One of the biggest missing pieces in all of the Dawn of X announcements was Moira “X” MacTaggart. She was the catalyst of the House of X and Powers of X, but in the seven books announced so far, we haven’t seen her name come up at all. Well, Jonathan Hickman finally revealed a few details […]

A Quiet Place: Part 2 Trailer Release Has Us Hyped

When A Quiet Place released in 2018, horror fans were thrilled. The film, directed by John Krasinski, exceeded expectations with its touching story, scary monsters, and intense scares. The film ended on a sad, but hopeful note. A sequel wasn’t immediately apparent. And honestly, we didn’t need one unless the writers could come up with an idea […]

Here we are, just weeks in 2020, and another major game is pushed back to the second half of the year. News of the Marvel’s Avengers game delayed isn’t necessarily surprising. In a lot of ways, the move to delay a game to improve its final product is all but routine. Not to mention, a […]

Guardians of the Galaxy #1 Al Ewing and Juann Cabal Give Us A Dysfunctional Space Family (spoilers!)

For Marvel, a #1 issue generally means that a new creative team is taking over a title, and leading the character or characters into a new era. We just saw this recently with Thor #1. And we’re seeing that now with Guardians of the Galaxy #1, from writer Al Ewing and artist Juann Cabal. After […]
