Keanu Reeves Day Coming 2021! Matrix 4 and John Wick Chapter 4 to Release on the Same Day

Keanu Reeves has been having a bit of a renaissance this year—well, really since the first John Wick movie surprised everyone with just how awesome it was. Keanu avenging his murdered puppy? Move over Citizen Kane. But we really just can’t get enough Keanu now. He had the funniest moments in the Netflix comedy Won’t You Be My Maybe, and had the breakout character of Toy Story 4—Duke Caboom, the Canadian daredevil. Even his cameo in the next SpongeBob movie was one of the best things about 2019; impressive, considering it’s a 2020 movie. But all of this—this is just the warmup. And in about eighteen months, one of the greatest events of mankind will take place in cinemas around the world: Keanu Reeves Day!

How Did the Miracle Keanu Reeves Day Happen?

Previously, Lionsgate announced that John Wick Chapter 4 would release on May 21st, 2021. But yesterday, Warner Bros. announced that The Matrix 4 will also release on May 21st, 2021. Yes, that’s right. As of right now, we’ll be able to watch Neo and John Wick back-to-back on the big screen. Could there be a better reason to celebrate than seeing the man who made the line “Guns—Lots of Guns” work in two different movies, twenty years apart? As long as Lionsgate doesn’t decide to change the release date—considering, as The Wrap points out, The Matrix and John Wick has a pretty significant shared audience. If all stays the same, Keanu Reeves Day will happen.

Obviously, you’ll want to double feature Matrix 4 and John Wick: Chapter 4, but Keanu Reeves Day is about more than movies. It’s about the man. Don’t take the Keanu out of Keanu Reeves Day! Start with a big bowl of Kellog’s Corn Flakes with a glass of Coca-Cola. Depending on your showtimes and location, go surfing. Of course, if you aren’t playing air guitar, you haven’t kept up with your Keanu gospels. As the day continues, play a game of football or baseball, especially if you can learn from the kids you are coaching. Finally, eat a potato, cuddle with your puppy (okay, a kitten will do as well) and insert a sharp metal shaft into the base of your skull and plug into the Matrix.

Happy future Keanu Reeves Day to you!
