Bad news for any fans of the Jurassic Park franchise – it seems that the series might end with the latest film. According to actor Chris Pratt, the latest film, which releases this month, is the last of the series. If this is true, it certainly will be sad to see the end of the film series. It has been going strong ever since 1993, with Steven Spielberg’s original film Jurassic Park.

Previously, in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, we saw that the world had changed completely. After Maisie released the dinosaurs into the world, humans had to learn to live alongside these ancient animals. The newest film called, Jurassic World: Dominion will explore the relationship between humans and dinosaurs. It will also look at the effect of this sudden return of once-extinct animals to the world of the Jurassic Park franchise.

Additionally, fans will finally get to see Dr. Ian Malcolm, Dr. Alan Grant, and Dr. Ellie Sattler return to the franchise. We last saw Dr. Grant and Dr. Sattler, played by Sam Neill and Laura Dern, in Jurassic Park 3, which came out way back in 2001. Dr. Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum, made a cameo appearance in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

The Trio Returns

Jurassic World: Dominion will be the first time that the trio are together in the Jurassic Park franchise since the first film. They will work alongside newcomers to the franchise, Owen Grady and Clare Dearing. This pair, played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, first appeared in the reboot of the Jurassic Park franchise. This came out in 2018 and was titled Jurassic World.

It’s not too clear what is going to happen in the latest film. But, we can expect lots of shake-ups to the Jurassic Park franchise are on their way. We know that plenty of old dinosaurs, like the T-Rex, and new dinos will appear, such as the Giganotosaurus. The newest film is sure to be a good one!

A Final Goodbye to the Jurassic Park Franchise?

However, it’s not all plain sailing. Chris Pratt spoke to The Today Show and stated that Jurassic World Dominion would be the last entry to the Jurassic Park franchise. He talked about how “the legacy cast back, Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum, plus the cast of Jurassic World all converged, our storylines converging in a way that is very much a finale.”

He then compared the newest film to a “fireworks display” and explicitly confirmed that “it’s the end of this franchise.” If this is indeed true, we are sure that plenty of fans around the world will be devastated by this news.

After all, the film series has been going strong since 1993, and Jurassic World: Dominion will mark the sixth film in the Jurassic Park franchise. Furthermore, there have been countless video game spinoffs and even a Netflix TV show, which is also going to air its final season this year.

The Future For Jurassic Park

It makes sense for the film series to be coming to a close, although we would be very surprised if this is really “it.” There are still plenty of stories that Universal Pictures can tell with the Jurassic Park franchise, so it would be sad to see the door finally closed.

Additionally, Frank Marshall, the producer of the Jurassic World films, suggested there is more to come. He said earlier this year that “we’re going to sit down, and we’re going to see what the future is.” He also mentioned, “we’re definitely looking to do more in the ‘Jurassic’ world.”

Whatever the future holds for the Jurassic Park franchise, you can catch Jurassic World: Dominion in cinemas from June 10th.
