Jude Law As Captain Hook in Peter Pan & Wendy
Ahoy matey! We recently got a first glance at Jude Law as Captain Hook! After the success of Disney’s live-action movies (Beauty and the Beast and Aladdin, for example), they’ve set their focus on Peter Pan. Back in March of the year-that-shall-not-be-named, Disney announced a live-action Peter Pan movie. Titled Peter Pan & Wendy it was set to be released in 2021. Unfortunately, COVID-19’s impact on movie theaters and the film industry, in general, paused a lot of work. This movie was one whose release date got pushed back. The most recent update puts the release date at 2022, and it will premiere on Disney+.
The movie will be based on the 1953 animated film, which was an adaptation of the J.M. Barrie novel about a boy that wouldn’t grow up and the adventures he had in Neverland. There have been several iterations of the Peter Pan story with different viewpoints (Hook featured Robin Williams as an adult Peter Pan, and Pan was a prequel to the Peter Pan/Wendy story). But Peter Pan & Wendy will probably stay truer to the animated version.
What Do People Think of Jude Law as Captain Hook?
The general consensus seems to be that Jude Law will be a good fit for the swashbuckling pirate. Law is great at embodying the characters he plays (Yon-Rogg in Captain Marvel, hot Dumbledore in the Fantastic Beasts franchise), and he’ll be joining a talented list of actors that previously filled Hook’s boots. I will forever love Dustin Hoffman’s take in Hook, but I’m excited to see what idiosyncracies Law will bring to his version. His look does evoke some of the classic animated Hook-look. Though he could use some bigger hair.

Who Else Will Be In Peter Pan & Wendy?

Right now, we know that Pete’s Dragon director David Lowery will front the project, and Peter Pan And Wendy Darling will be played by Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson (who’s also going to be in Black Widow). Additionally, grown-ish star Yara Shahidi is going to play Tinker Bell, Lost In Space‘s Molly Parker will play Mary Darling, and Firefly‘s Alan Tudyk will the role of George Darling. Alyssa Wapanatâhk, who is a member of the Bigstone Cree First Nation, will play Tiger Lily, which is a welcome change from Rooney Mara’s whitewashed version. The only thing I want to know is, will Tick-Tock the Crocodile be in the movie??
