He will be playing a major role in the film, that also stars Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly. Speculation is rampant that Majors will be playing the villain of the film. The actor first entered the cultural consciousness when he starred in the critically acclaimed indie film The Last Black Man In San Francisco in 2019. Since then he has gone on to roles in the new Spike Lee joint Da Five Bloods, where he appeared alongside another MCU actor – the Black Panther himself – Chadwick Boseman (RIP).
This year found Majors starring in the hit HBO show Lovecraft Country, where he plays the lead role of Atticus Freeman. He has been praised for his sensitive and nuanced portrayal of an African-American veteran who uncovers dark secrets in his family legacy.
Now Majors will join the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a lead role in the new Ant-Man film. But who is Kang the Conqueror? And what do we know about the upcoming Marvel movies?

The super-villain known as Kang the Conqueror has never appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe due to copyright conflict. The character is technically owned by 20th Century Fox, who control the output of X-Men movies. Kang’s real name is Nathaniel Richards, and is related to Reed Richards of Fantastic Four. The super-villain has the ability to time-travel, and has battled the Avengers many times over the years of comic book storylines. It is unclear how Marvel got the rights to the character after so many years. But Deadline reports that Majors will likely play Kang in the upcoming Ant-Man movie.
Interesting to note that Ant-Man director Peyton Reed once pitched a new Fantastic Four movie to Fox that never happened. It is possible that he has been planning to bring in Kang as a new villain for a long time. Sources say that the version of Kang that appears in the movies will differ from the comics version, but it is unclear how different he will be. The time-travel elements of Kang’s story could tie into the Quantum realm of the Ant-Man franchise in an interesting way.
